My one never sell pedal is the IE Xerograph. I use it as a static LPF for dub, as an envelope filter for funk and as a swept filter for electronica etc.

The pedal I use the most is probably my 3 Leaf Enabler for most of my at home practice and sometimes as a preamp/DI live.

The two pedals I'd use at a gig if I could only take one would either be an OC-2 or my custom Foundry overdrive from johnk_10 depending on the music.

I've only recently started trying out pedals so my collection of eight total pedals (not counting a tuner and a wireless) is nothing compared to what most of you guys have. So it would be hard for me to say there's one Holy Grail out there that I have to get and will keep forever. However, I'm finding that, for me so far, a compressor seems to be the most useful and most effective type of pedal when it comes to improving my sound. I happen to have two right now and am alternating between them to see if one becomes a clear winner or if I end up keeping both for their different qualities (if you're curious, I have a Wampler Ego and an MXR Bass Compressor).

But the short answer a compressor.
