Your Opinion on 8x10's

I have been just doing some research on my own, trying to find a good 8x10 to go with my Trace V8 and would love to find the matching 8x10, but am slowly realizing its not going to happen. So I am looking to get rid of my green rat fur Trace cabs and get myself a good 8x10 to match that head. I was thinking maybe a nice Eden or something, but I just want to hear some opinions from some TB'ers.

Ampeg is the industry standard, can't go wrong with them.

SWR makes some decent 8x10s, if you're looking for used gear its a good option as they're not terribly expensive.

Personally I love Eden; I have a 210XST and a 410XLT, which sound amazing as a pair. IIRC their 8x10 is essentially a 410XST + a 410XLT stacked. Those cabs sound awesome so I'd highly recommend their 8x10 as a result.

With any of these options though, you will want to consider weight as they are all pretty heavy and fairly awkward to move around.

fEARful 1515/66 is about the same weight, is more efficient, and will go about as loud as two nv610's.

We are getting away from 810's a bit, but...just before we get back on topic...I spent hours A/Bing a Berantino NV610 and NV412. Walked away with the 412. Never heard anything finer before or since. I'd make the same decision a second time.

So which 810? NV412. IMHO.

The main thing positive about 810s is that they can be had for cheap. Otherwise there are myriad better choices, a good deal of which can bury any readily available 810 in existence.

Does the Heritage 810e have the same power rating as the original? I know the 70's cabs get louder than I can handle, so I'd love to throw a 300W power amp at a pair and be done with it.

The originals were rated for 250w. The Heritage is rated for 800w.
