Wookieonbass, I've played through an 1820 with JBL's. There is a trick to "improve" the tone. Plug into the normal input, and then run a short speaker cord from the other normal input to the low input. This keeps the crossover on the 10's but runs the 18" full range. Put the cab on it's side to vertically align the 10's which may or may not help.

The jumper gives you a punchier, bolder cabinet.

Amps/system depends on gig

Standard gig with all band members on BOSE gear:
Line 6 BassPODXTLIVE>tube preamp>BOSE PS1

Large stage with/without FOH
Line 6 BassPODXTLIVE>tube preamp>SansAmpRBI>dbx166xl>QSC2402>ACMEs or other

Large stage with/without FOH when I anticipate rookie sound-person
Line 6 BassPODXTLIVE>tube preamp>Behringer Nuke>SeismicAudio 18" sub(lows) + 4x8 top

Club with great PA and sound-person AND I'm parked near the PA subs:
Line 6 BassPODXTLIVE>tube preamp>Behringer BX1200(EQ'd for mids & highs, FOH gives me lows)

If Line 6 dies at a gig?
SansAmp pedal>amp system on hand

In one practice room a 1965 Bassman on a 2x12 cab, in another a GK400RB on a Hartke 410. I like them just fine. Live: a Markbass Micro 1x8 indoors, and a Markbass 2x10 combo tiltback thingy outdoors. ...But I'm direct to the splitter, and I play with bands that have moved past ears to listening to house and sidefills with nothing else onstage but small personal monitors. Works for me. ...These days anyhoo.

...That's is a mean looking Fender rig.

Thanks, if that was about mine... I bought it in a pawn shop in about 1988 or so.

Here it is again with the 1964 Precision that was my main-player electric bass up until a decade or so ago when I went on an all-late-40s Kay tangent with a black-tie Standards big-band ...

Now the 1964 pretty much just sits in the case, it's too valuable to take to a gig and my Stingray 4 and L2500 are actually better electrics anyway.

First off, I'd like to thank you for including Sunn. Though these types of thread seem to come up on a weekly basis, it's rare for Sunn not to get lumped in the "other" category.

Second, my amps:

Sunn 2000s
Sunn 1200s
Sunn 200s

As to why I use Sunns? They're simply the best amps for my personal tonal goals. Big, clean, warm, and brilliant break up when pushed hard. And since I like the sound of the power section breaking up, 120w isn't too unreasonable (I don't think I could really get away with pushing a 300w amp over the edge).
+1
I have a 2000s and 200s and a few Sunn cabs.

I also have an SS original '70 Acoustic 150b head plugged into an Acoustic closed back 6x10 cab that I've used for rehearsal 'cause it's a bit smaller and easier to get around. I also have an '65 18w tube Alamo Fury 1x15 combo that fits in the trunk (it's not light weight though) for quieter stuff.

#1 is '75 Ampeg V4B

#2 is '69 Kustom K200

#3 is '00's Ashdown AMB 500 II Evo

#4 is not finished yet, but will probably be my favorite when its done, '67 Ampeg B15NC

Considering replacing the Ashdown with a Class D of some sort. Leaning towards Aguilar TH500 or the GK equivalent.

Really surprised at the lack of Ashdown love in this poll!

My primary rig is an ABM 900 EVOIII running into and ABM 610. I also have an ABM 810 for larger gigs. Also in the collection are a MAG 410, an EB 180-15 combo and a Tour Bus 10 practice amp.

I will (hopefully) be ordering a CTM 300 tube head to be the jewel in the crown of my Ashdown collection which will get used in place of the ABM as and when I think it necessary (i.e. when I fancy lugging it about!)
