your progression on amps

Let's see. This is sort of a disjointed progression, but I'll give it my best. Note that some of these amps existed in parallel in my collection so there wasn;t necessarily a "progression" from some to others, merely a "compliment". But I'll try to recall in chronological order:

Amps:
- MANY moons ago, my first amp was a cheap "Stage" 50 watter. Had this thing for many years.
- Carvin R600 (never really liked it for a variety of reasons)
- Trace Elliot AH200 Series 6 (GREAT amp!)
- Trace Elliot AH600 GP7
- Trace Elliot RA500 power amp w/ Rocktron bassMAXE preamp
- Switched to Ashly BP41 preamp using a different Trace power amp that I purchased (still have both power amps and the Ashly and Rocktron pres)
- Switched to Trace Elliot Mk V GP11 preamp using same Trace power amp (this is still my "big rack setup" today).
- Trace Elliot AH350 GP7 head (it was a practice head, but never have liked the GP7s, so it didn't last long)
- MusicMan Audiphile 500-watt head, which I traded for:
- Gallien-Krueger RB700-II (this is my "smaller", but most used rack setup currently)
- Trace Elliot AH250 GP11 (this is my practice head, but I have performed live with it - it is loud as hell)

Cabs:
- The aforementioned Stage cab 1x15 was my first
- Carvin 1x15 4ohm
- Avatar 4x10 (still my main gigging cab)
- Ampeg Classic 2x10 (sold it)
- Changed the speaker in the Carvin to an Ashdown 8ohm (put the Carvin speaker in that old Stage cab - yep, still have it after 25 years - and it serves as a monitor now)
- Changed the speaker in the Carvin to a much higher powered Eminence Kappa Pro 1x15 8ohm and I finally have a 15 that I like
- Musicman Audiophile 2x10 (LOVE this cab - can't thank the TBer from whom I bought it enough! I'd get another one in a second)

small 100 watt? qsc into the ric's 15"

then

PV century all purpose head into pv 215

then
the century into 2 pv 215, 1 with bw's 1 with ???

then

fender bassman 50 watt head into 1 215
this setup, or 2 215 cabs and 2 small heads to run them, was my unfortunate setup through most of college. :-(
Big, not loud, and no terrific sound.

then

mark 4 through the twin 215's

;-)

Not too many really;

15W Gorilla

60W Peavey Basic112

100W Ampeg B-100R (still loving this combo)

200W Aguilar DB359 through Aguilar GS212(still regret selling it)

500W Aguilar AG500 through the Aggie GS 212 (loving this amp)

Looking into an Aggie GS412 or S810 or Bergie NV610 or NV425. Not to replace anything, but for total unjustified overkill :bassist:

1) Carvin 150-watt combo (returned within the 10-day trial period.)
2) Hartke 350-watt 2x10 combo, eventually paired with a 1x15 Transporter. This was a great rig and I wish I'd never sold it.
3) SWR SM-900 + Eden 4x10. Got these after deciding to "upgrade" from the Hartke. After a couple of years, I ditched the Eden for an Aguilar stack -- 2x10 + 2x12. Another great rig I should have kept.
4) SWR Workingman's 15 combo. A great amp for band practice.
4) SWR 550-X + Goliath Sr. 6x10. Got 'em cheap at GC. The 550-X wound up being broken, but since I bought it used, I was SOL. Replaced it with..
5) Stewart World 1.6 + Sansamp RBI.

As best as my memory can reconstruct from all those years ago, there may be a few hazy years in here, especially the "endoresement years" as our manager was always on the look out for free gear, anyway here goes:

In order? Gaaah.
Started on guitar so,
1966 Fender Princeton. Brand new.
Had a family friend build a cabinet with 2 tens
( ohmage, schmomage, I was 14)
Single Showman w/ 1 15
Traded even up for a Vibrolux Reverb
Had to give the Vibrolux back when the kids parents said no go
Yellow Bassman head and a crappy, tiny 1 15 cabinet from a cheap combo ( or a very large port)
Traded to Guitar lab for an ancient Ampeg "guitar amp" , I have never seen one since. It had a preamp on top like a Jet but had a power amp on the bottom.
Then....
Silver faced Bassman ( I'm a bass player now) Home made cabinet
Ampeg B115 ( 1975 solid state, carpet covered)
Acoustic 360 ( thanks, Tritones)
Swapped or sold and replaced with
SVT
Sold Svt ( walk up apartment, no steady band no rehearsal room)
Bought Barcus Berry 15 watt amp w/ an 8 inch speaker.
Ran that into a power amp from a Standel PA column into a Bullfrog cabinet w/ 1 10 and 1 12
GK400
Weird cabinet w/ 4 5 inch speakers in front and a 15" passive radiator on the back
SWR studio 220
SWR Goliath III jr ( I still use this puppy after 15+ years of clubdate abuse
Hartke 3500 ( Boooooo)
SWR 350X
Ampeg B2r ( you can have either one I no longer need or want 2 spares)
Carver M 1.5 power amp
Joemeek 3Q preamp

POS Yamaha combo - 50 watts with a 15 that always farted

Borrowed my brother's Peavy combo - old head with a 4x10

SWR Silverado with the 4x8 - great sound

Added a SWR Triad

Bought an Alembic F1-x and used it with a Carver PM 1.5 to power the Triad

Sold the Silverado and Triad

Bought and Eden 210XLT and a 210T

Sold them, bought an Epifani 2x12

Selling that, buying an Berg NV610

Not too bad in 7 years! Sort-of 5 rigs.
