SansAmp VT Bass and all of it's fancier brothers and forefathers. It's just magic in a box as far as I'm concerned. The regular old VTBass 1.0 is what I use and it's perfect.

Actual 9 knob parametric EQ, I use a BYOC one. Can get rid of ugly noises, add color, and help you cut through a mix? Yes please.

I hate to be such a hipster but the Vox Duel Overdrive tube pedal. I won some money at a poetry contest in high school, and, being prone to GAS even at a young age, the first thing I did was go to the music store and buy the first thing that sounded good. Bought it for guitar at the time, but when I tried it for bass it was really something. It's the first thing in my chain and it's always on at a very low gain setting, just to get my bass a bit more warm and tubey. I have the second channel set up with the bass boost and some gnarly drive.

At the moment:
VT Deluxe is always on,
Boss tremolo get's a lot of use (love to use a very subtle trem on the calm, sweet, soft pieces of music)

well, guess I've only got 2 I can't do without at the moment... I'm gonna get a micro synth when I have the money and I'm guessin' That's gonna get a lot of use

I'm going to cheat a bit and make two lists (all of the pedals are in my current board) :

For the pedals with the most effect on my actual tone, ie. the ones most often activated and clearly audible:
-tech 21 VT bass
-tech 21 xxl bass
-zvex Mastotron

For the pedals which own and which I believe are the most well- thought-out and/or fun, but which don't play a substantial role in my current band:
-iron ether subterranea
-iron ether xerograph deluxe
-iron ether oxide

And, as a quick aside, my favorite utility pedal:
-boss ls-2
