Zon basses - is everything OK ?

I've literally given up on ever expecting to get back a bass that I already own after nearly three years of waiting for a repair, but hey some band on Instagram apparently received their two basses so everything is OK and I must be making up my story! o_O

He gives instruments to musicians in well-known bands to receive new deposits from innocent people for orders that he will later not fulfill. A great way to have a steady income

called, no response, message left. I will say they are pretty good about returning calls quickly though, so I have no doubt I’ll talk to someone tonight or tomorrow.

On an unrelated note, anyone able to contact Mr Ciperman at planet bass?

I talked to him a couple of times over the last3 years bugging him to build a 32 scale…in any case I’m ready to cave and scratch this graphite itch with a standard scale revolite, but no luck getting in contact with him, email x 2 and phone calls at different times of the day.

not sure if I annoyed him with the 32 thing enough for him to ghost me (in which case Mr ciperman, I apologize!) or if my # looks like a telemarketing # and he’s avoiding it.

Anybody know?

Mr. Cimperman is very hit or miss. I think it’s a side gig for him. He has been very helpful to me when I do get in contact with him, though. I wish you luck in all of this. Thanks for the update.

ty much. And to be clear to anybody out there thinking of buying a modulus, Mr ciperman has always been very kind with his time…I was wondering if it’s just that I call at busy times or if I am on the naughty list (not that I really think one actually exists, I’m just poking fun at myself). I fully support anybody who wants to, to buy a modulus! They are fantastic and I hope to luck into a revolite myself :)

I remember back in the early 90's all these builders like Ken Smith, Zon, Modulus, Pedulla, Alembic, Fodera, Wal the wait times for a build where never this insanely long, I guess the internet has something to do with this!!!!

There was a time when a lot of those makers just didn't really talk to the public quite so much.
I remember calling John Diggins in the 90s to ask about getting a 5-string JD Supernatural. He was willing to do it, but admitted he rarely dealt with the public - his backlog of instruments was primarily for professional players. Lovely guy, though.

Lots more people seem to feel the need to own a Smith, Gould/Modulus/Fodera now that they can see them online and drop the cash (or at least a deposit) so easily. It used to require more effort to get in touch with a builder and schedule a build. I'm sure the changes in wealth distribution over the past 25 years and the retiring matched-pension baby-boomers are helping that somewhat.
