Zoom B3 As Preamp Part 2

With how much buffer you record?
Try to rise the latency of the asio driver to 5 ms.In the advance tab check the "Notify for audio drop outs".

Hello,

It's in 5 m.s, i'll mark it.

Buffer is about 384.

The playback bug wen't back again.

I set b3 up to be my sound card to reproduce audio, then using headphones i'm listening to music through WMediaP with no rec program even opened.

The music being played through WMP clips! I'm not even recording!

What should I do?

I will assume your recording connection is via USB.

Since connection to your particular USB port previously resulted in clipping, be sure you are also powering the B3 via 9V @ 500 mA and have the B3 power switch set to "ON" position (and not "OFF" where USB power is instead utilized.)

Should clipping still occur during recording, it is possible your internal B3 levels are simply too hot. In particular, under the GLOBAL menu, make sure the "USB AUDIO" levels are sensible (e.g. REC GAIN.)

Good luck or simply record via any of the B3's analog outs instead.

Cheers!

First of all, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your kind attention.

As i just marked "notify asio drop outs" I tried to record something and after 20sec of playback it crashed and the following message showed up:

"ASIO STREAMING DROP OUT"

What does that mean?

Means that you are not clipping but you have drop outs because your pc are a little slow(CPU or HD).Rise the buffer to 512 and try again.Stop rising the buffer until the "asio streaming drop out" message disappears.Stay there for audio playback. For recording is huge buffer but we can find until then a solution to your problem.Try that and come back and report.

The settings look fine, I suspect another issue is at play on the Notebook side.

Hi everybody. Ten days ago (February 21th) I sent this message to [email protected]:

Hello and first, thanks for making such a good piece of musical equipment.

There are many bass players that would like to know anything about the requested version 2.0 firmware upgrade. Could you tell me something?

Probably you know better than me me but among other things we expect to get this:

1- The possibility to put the cabinet simulation of the amps only in the XLR output.
2- A global input level with clip indicator.
3- The possibility of changing the default behaviour of the tuner (for example, I prefer to be always in mute mode)
4- Of course we want to use more than 3 effects simultaneously. Almost always, we use a compressor and a noise gate that we don't need to be wasting a pedal slot. They are always on, so there is no need of changing its on/off status.

Etc.

Please tell me something. Are you planning to upgrade the firmware of this miraculous piece of art? I would like to be able to confirm this to my Talkbass friends.

Thanks in advance, and please forgive me for my bad English (I'm Spanish).

Today I have this answer:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for using our product.

There is not such plan to upgrade the B3 right now.

Anyway, your opinions have been noted. We will forward your email to the development team and the specialists for future reference.

Sincerely yours,

ZOOM Corporation <<

Don't know how much we have to wait for this update :hmm:.

I, too, am waiting to audition the EV ETX line due here in USA in April, for use with my B3 as a gigging alternative.

The EV ZLX cousins are great speakers, cost 1/3 of the price of their ETX counterparts, and compare sonically with the QSC K line that are 2 times the price. The ZLX are also the lightest weight speakers in their class if that is also a factor. One or two others on this thread own them and hopefully they will chime-in with their opinions.

Keep in mind that wattage ratings are meaningless in how they are presented with powered speakers of this type.

The best advice I can give is for one to audition the powered monitor(s) in person with the B3 as to avoid any disappointment later.

Cheers!

Yes Charlie,i know, thats why i 'm very pleased with my little Ampeg B3158 (only 100watts 15" Low + 50 8" High) but sonically is very good to my ears.

The think that impress me with the ETX series is the freq range of them, not the wattage.;)
No need for sub.The ETX 35P is 3 way and i always believe that the good speakers is always the 3 way speakers. They take a lot of work out off the 15" speaker and the result is better i think.

I am sure that i am gonna bye one,or ever better two of the ZLXs for accurate reproduction of reverbs and delays and no the ETXs.

I really reckon to try one :hyper:
