Zoom B3 As Preamp Part 2

It seems that patches are where combinations of effects are used.

Is the only place where patches are selected the second stomp?

Can i build a patch on the b3 itself or does it need to be done in software?

I like using a bit of compression and an amp effect. Sometimes I want to vary the sound.

Thanks

Each patch can contain 3 effects. These 3 effects are presented as 3 stompboxes that you can activate or cut with your foot.
And you can easily set on the fly each one of these stompboxes with 3 dedicated knobs, as on a real pedal.
Very simple.

The B3 contains something as a hundred patches. So a of hundred combinations of 3 stompboxes that you can choose as you want very simply directly on the B3.

Really it's as having a tone of effects but having the right to use only 3 at the same moment.

You can do it from the device itself. you never have to hook it up to a pc unless you want to.

Charlie,

Thanks so much for this (and the previous) thread, I've learned a lot (already went through all 51 pages of the first thread, much to my gf's chagrin ;)). I just picked up a B3 and have been playing around with it using some of your recommendations. I have never been much of an effects guy, used to play my Stratocaster clean (just some reverb) and never even thought of adding affects to a bass. But I liked the amp/cab emulation feature, the included tuner, and having noise reduction. Also having a built in drum machine was pretty cool for those times we practice without a drummer, that feature is actually better than I expected though there is a limited number of rhythms available. For just $200 bucks buying the B3 was a no-brainer. Right now I only have my practice amp, a Crate BX-50 that I picked up for next to nothing, with me so I am fooling around with that. My gig amp is an Ampeg BA-115 but I keep that at our studio. On outdoor gigs we plan on running me through the board and I will use my amp as a monitor. So I am thinking in that configuration I would plug my bass into the zoom and then run the zoom into the amp and use the amp's XLR out to the board. For this setup I would use the cab at 100%. A question I have is should I connect the B3 to the input jack or the effects send jack in this configuration? In fact, should I use the effects send jack even if I am not connecting through the board?

I have actually cut and pasted a lot of stuff here in a word file to keep in a binder I made that includes the manual. I see that you are able to change the names of patches, is this done through the software? I can't load the software that came with this on my computer since I don't have a CD/DVD drive on it. I plan on loading it onto my computer at work and transferring the files onto a USB drive stick and then loading it on my laptop. I couldn't find anything but the update file on the Zoom website.

Thanks again for all the great stuff you've posted!

Connect the B3 in this case to the Ampeg BA-115's Effect RETURN jack (not the Effect Send)

The patch names are assignable via the B3 device, without the need for any software.

Cheers!

Additionally, when running 100% cabinet sim on the B3 connected to the BA-115, be sure the BA-115's built-in tweeter is engaged and do not be afraid to push the TREBL param of whatever amplifier sim you are using on the B3 so that it sounds pleasing and natural.

You can download the Edit & Share software:

No need for the disc included. Very fun and useful, plus you can end up with a huge library of different patches.
