Zoom b3 patch Ideas

I've think I may have post a patch idea that duplicates an Ibanez pd-7 phat hed bass overdrive sound. I don't recall which page it's on, but just in case I didn't, here's what I came up with.

Phat-hed distortion

Section 1: mxr: bass: 3, mid: 0, treble: -2, gain: 50, blend: 50, level: 100, color: on, chan: clean

Section 2: squeak: gain: 70, tone: 50, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 3: fliptop: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: -2, midfq: 250hz, gain: 50, level: 90, ultra: low, cab: ag8x10, mix: 50

Not quite sure if this is accurate, but give it a shot and see if it worked out for you. I remember I use to own an Ibanez pd-7 phat head bass overdrive a long time ago. it was a cool sounding bass distortion pedal. too bad that Ibanez discontinued this pedal. they should reissue it.

I'm gonna try this. I literally just bought and received a NOS Phat Hed as I love the way it sounds. But it's a noisy, noisy pedal when bypassed. Luckily, I'm redo-ing my pedal board with the B3, the Phat Hed, and old Digitech Bass SynthWah all running through a loop switcher for some true bypass and qucik on/off. Also added a TC Electronics Voicelive 3, primarily for vocals, but I'm gonna see what I can get out of it for bass as a grab-n-go for little gigs. Also adding a AirBrake attenuator so I can drive the tubes in my V-4B without drowning out everything else. New band, big changes....

UPDATE: I set it up, tweak a few things for my bass and it is definitely in the neighborhood of how I have my Phat Hed set (lowest gain). A little less bass on the MXR, tweak the Scream to the desired gain and a touch less bass on the FlipTop, for me. Lots more control on the Zoom than the Phat Hed, but I can't tie up all 3 sections for the OD, so the PhatHed stays. Great OD, though. Thanks!

Glad you gave this patch a try and enjoyed the patch with a few adjustments. to tell you the truth, I don't really recall how I originally posted the patch idea. let alone what page it was on. I tried remembering how I originally posted and I came up with this patch mentally. I wasn't quite sure if this patch was accurate, but I did do my best on duplicating the pd-7 sound as much as I can. other than that, I'm glad you dig the patch. and it's okay if you made some adjustments. in fact, that's the point of this thread. I provide nifty patch ideas and the members here try them out for themselves and if they want to, they can adjust the setting to their liking. again, I'm not quite sure if this patch was accurate nor do I remember how I originally posted, but thanks for giving this patch a try.

No, thank you for going to the effort to make and share the info! My goofing with it is the easy part! Obviously every patch is going to vary by bass, rig strings, pickups and even playing style. Otherwise, there'd be no knobs on any pedal! In my case, I'm using a PJ5 with Wilkins pickups, an Aggie pre and Dunlop Marcus Miller stainless strings. This is a great OD/grind patch that I highly recommend to others. Thanks again!

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch closely duplicates a deep synth bass sound from the Gillette song short short man.

Gillette bass

Section 1: octave: oct: 50, dry: 50, tone: 4, low: 8, mid: 5, level: 100

Section 2: monosynth: decay: 35, wave: saw, reso: 0, synth: 100, dry: 0, level: 125

Section 3: b-man: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: -2, midfq: 250hz, gain: 45, level: 70, deep: off, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch has low gained distorted bass sound that's tube emulated.

VT bass crunch

Section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: gtrln, level: 100

Section 2: d.i plus: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: 2, gain: 10, blend: 50, level: 95, color: on, chan: dist

Section 3: svt: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 2, midfq: 300hz, gain: 40, level: 40, ultra: both, cab: ag8x10, mix: 50

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch has a stacked crunchy bass sound with a bright punchy compression.

Bassman crunch

Section 1: dualcomp: hi: 20, lo: 18, freq: 1,0khz, level: 100, tone: 4

Section 2: d.i: bass: 4, mid: 2, treble: 4, gain: 10, blend: 25, level: 90, color: on, chan: dist

Section 3: b-man: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: 2, midfq: 300hz, gain: 45, level: 70, deep: off, cab: ag8x10, mix: 50

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch is similar to the vt bass crunch, only with a fliptop model to give the patch more of a vintage feel to it.

In my country (Argentina) we know a song that was a rip-off of that one...

And the lyrics... better don't translate them hahhaa
