Zoom b3 patch Ideas

Yeah, that's the unfortunate downside of having a shared drive without access control or version management. @Crystalman85 what's your take?

I'm no computer noob but don't use Google Drive or other online sharing, except an occasional wetransfer share.
But I guess access control must be possible, allowing guests strictly download access and moderators more?

Maybe we could also incorporate the 'Zoom B3 "Greatest Hits of the Talkbass Forum"-Best Patch Ideas' thread. A most downloaded or liked listing or sorting by?

Liking that "warm rock" patch today, Crystalman. (Acoustic 360, Bass Muff, Limiter) Playing my jazz bass w/ the neck pup dimed, bridge pup at zero, and tone at about 1-2 and EQ on my amp relatively flat has a GREAT rock tone, full without being abrasively in your face. As a bonus, diming my bridge pup and boosting my tone to about 7-8 gives me a GREAT late 60's tube tone (think Jimi Hendrix and Creme). Picking over the bridge pup brings out the growl even more. I'd never taken the time to tweak the Acoustic model on the B3, very nice!

There is a Google Drive library (link here) but, according to the title, apparently someone was eager to try out what the 'delete' feature would do so it is not complete and, I guess, not updated anymore...

I usually don't do the google drive thing. I honestly have no knowledge in that. I usually stick with posting patch ideas here because that's what I'm best at.

Anytime, dude...the use of a compressor model will give your bass more sustain. I'm not much of a compressor kind of guy, but I do enjoy using the m comp and the limiter.

Over the years, one of my biggest struggles has been timing and attack -- keeping my meter and not over/under attacking the note. Using a limiter of course evens out the "strongest" attacks so that you don't have a note/phrase that is "over the top" and stands out from the bassline. Just a little "pro compressor/limiter" love so that my favorite effects don't get overlooked

Where do you put your limiter or comp in the chain? I've never used either and would like to try them. I too do the same with attacking. The evening of up picking is my main issue. Thanks!

I've always placed them last in my chain, but I recommend trying it in the first position as well...it is YOUR ears that call the shot here!

Judging from that zing, it sounds like either a bright sansamp or perhaps an ampeg svt model with the ultra set to both.

Okay. perhaps these settings might help.

Section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: efxln, level: 90

Section 2: squeak: gain: 70, tone: 50, level: 95, balance: 20

Section 3: monotone: bass: 4, mid: 3, : treble: 2, midfq: 250hz, gain: 45, level: 90, char: both, cab: pt1x15, mix: 50

If the pt1x15 doesn't help, try the ag1x15 which can give you a more warmer, but a grindier sound. hope these settings helps you out.

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch closely duplicates the high-gained fuzzy distortion sounds of a hartke bass fuzz.

Hartke bass fuzz

Section 1: squeak: gain: 70, tone: 45, level: 100, balance: 40

Section 2: any effect you want

Section 3: hartke: bass: 4, mid: 5, treble: 3, midfq: 350hz, tube: 50, level: 50, comp: 2, cab: ac1x18, mix: 50

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch is similar to the hartke bass fuzz patch, only with a preamp model to duplicate the same sound quality.

Section 1: squeak: gain: 70, tone: 45, level: 100, balance: 40

Section 2: any effect you want

Section 3: di5: gain: 59, tone: off, level: 100, hicut: on

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch has a tube overdrive sound with a high-end presence.

Driving bassman

Section 1: dual comp: hi: 20, lo: 18, freq:1.0khz, level: 100, tone: 5

Section 2: t-scream: gain: 40, tone: 75, level: 100, balance: 35

Section 3: b-man: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: 2, midfq: 300hz, gain: 45, level: 70, deep: off, cab: ag8x10, mix: 50

The most common amp model to use for a motown sound is the ampeg b15 amp model. you can also use the acoustic amp model for a 60s and 70s rock sound. here are some examples of settings for those bass tones.

Motown
Fliptop: bass: 4, mid: 5 , treble: -2, midfq:350hz, gain: 45, level: 90, ultra: low, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

60s/70s rock
Acoustic: bass: 4, mid: 4, treble: 3, mmidfq: 300hz, gain: 40, level: 80, bright: off, cab: ag8x10, mix: 50

Hopefully these settings will help you out.
