Zoom b3 patch Ideas

HI all,
I'm new'ish to the Zoom B3 - really been digging the presets i've seen here and have made some modifications, however I noticed the Edit & Share v 5.0.x only allows for a .b3a format... and the core of everything I've seen, including in that Google doc file is .b3p - and I tried the whole open it in notepad and convert it, etc... didn't work for me. Is there a repository of *.b3a items out there?

I believe that the .b3a format is for an entire patch-group, in other words, it's a copy of an entire library of 100 patches, used for backup or for replacing all of the unit's patches for a specific show setup. The only .b3a files I see in my Zoom directory are such backups of the entire unit which I have made. I sort of think of the 'a' in .b3a as meaning 'array' of patches. I haven't seen anyone offering any .b3a of an entire library of patches.

The individual patches are in .b3p format, and I have imported many of Crystalman85s patches which are in that format. You can think of the 'p' as meaning an individual 'patch'. Although I haven't imported any of them in a long while since my firmware update, I'm pretty sure the system should still work this way.

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch has a vintage tube sound with a light grit and punchy mids.

Retro tube punch

Section 1: znr: thresh: 17, detect: gtrln, level: 100

Section 2: t-scream: gain: 5, tone: 75, level: 100, balance: 30

Section 3: svt: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 2, midfq: 250hz, gain: 35, level: 30, ultra: both, cab: sb4x12, mix: 50

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch has an overdriven bass sound with a mid-range presence resembling that of a sunn bass amp.

Hi all, my first post in the this forum....I'm from Italy so sorry for my mistake with english :)

This topic is really a great job, I'm going to buy a zoom b3 and I'd know if when I'll use a patch which has a simulated amp I've to connect the B3 in the PRE Input or in the SEND RETURN. I got a MARKBASS CMD121P COMBO.

Sorry in advance if this isn't the right place to ask for this, but for me it's not simple to search in english in the entire forum.

Good vibes from Italy.

may i request a bass setting on zoom b3 for erotomania of dream theater.. by the way thanks in advance i love this thread it helps me a lot..

I took a listen to the song and it sounds like a simple clean sound with smooth low-end. according to the wikipedia page of john myung, he has used many different amps like mesa-boogie, ashdown, and swr. for this sound, an swr amp model might do the trick. here, try this patch and see if it works.

Section 1: limiter: thresh: 17, ratio: 4, level: 95, release: 4

Section 2: bottom b: bass: 4, treble: 3, level: 50

Section 3: swr: bass: 4, mid: 5, treble: 3, midfq: 200hz, gain: 45, enhnc: 4, cab: swr4x10, mix: 50

Here are 2 patches I came up with. these patches in particular closely duplicate bass sounds from the dream theater song a rite of passage.

Myung flange

Section 1: metalwrld: gain: 10, tone: 80, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 2: flanger: depth: 80, rate: 35, reso: 7, pred: 2, mix: 90, level: 95, locut: 180hz

Section 3: bassdrive: bass: 2, treble: 3, presence: 0, gain: 50, level: 90, mid: 7

Myung grind

Section 1: limiter: thresh: 20, ratio: 5, level: 90, release: 2

Section 2: metalwrld: gain: 10, tone: 80, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 3: bassdrive: bass: 2, treble: 3, presence: 0, gain: 50, blend: 75, level: 90, mid: 7

Here's the clip of the Isolated bass track of the song. I couldn't figure out the patch for the part at 0:40, but as soon as I nail the sound, I'll have it posted here.

Here's a new patch I came up with. this patch has a low overdrive sound with warm lows.

Warm dirt

Section 1: dualcomp: hi: 20, lo: 24, freq: 1.0khz, level: 100, tone: 4

Section 2: bass bb: gain: 10, bass: 3, treble: -2, blend: 30, level: 75

Section 3: monotone: bass: 4, mid: 5, treble: 3, freq: 300hz, gain: 50, level: 80, char: flat, cab: ac1x18, mix: 50

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch closely duplicates the sludgy distortion sounds of an idiotbox landphill.

Heavy phillip

section 1: optcomp: drive: 7, tone: 45, level: 50

Section 2: squeak: gain: 50, tone: 45, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 3: ag amp: bass: 4, mid: 5, treble: 5, midfq: 300hz, gain: 45, level: 80, char: deep, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch is a warm heavy distortion sound loosely based on the darkglass vintage deluxe.

Vintage metaltube

section 1: m comp: thresh: 20, ratio: 5. level: 100, attack: 7

Section 2: squeak: gain: 30, tone: 45, level: 100, balance: 25

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch is similar to the vintage metaltubes patch, only with a metal zone distortion model.

Vintage metaltube 2

Section 2: metalwrld: gain: 25, tone: 45, level: 100, balance: 20

Section 3: b-man: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: -2, midfq: 300hz, gain: 45, level: 80, deep: off, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

Here's 2 new patch Ideas I came up with. these patches duplicate the tube overdriven and distorted sounds of an electro-harmonix english muff'n.

Muff'n bass 1

Section 1: D comp: sense: 4, tone: 5, level: 100, attack: fast

Section 2: t-scream: gain: 25, tone: 75, level: 100, balance: 45

Section 3: b-man: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: 2, midfq: 500hz, gain; 45, level: 80, deep: off, cab: sb4x12, mix: 50

Muff'n bass 2

Section 3: b-man: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: 2, midfq: 500hz, gain; 45, level: 80, deep: off, cab: sb4x12, mix: 50

Here's 2 other patch ideas I came up with. these patches closely duplicate the rectified sounds of an electro harmonix metal muff. an excellent patch for bass solos and drum 'n' bass type bands(i.e death from above 1979)

Metal bass muff 1

Section 1: d comp: sense: 4, tone: 7, level: 100, attack: fast

Section 2: metalwrld: gain: 70, tone: 50, level: 100, balance: 50

Section: super b: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 5, midfq: 300hz, gain: 35, level: 90, presence: 7, cab: swr4x10, mix: 50

Metal bass muff 2

Section 1: dual comp: hi: 30, lo: 25, freq: 1.0khz, level: 100, tone: 8

Section 2: metalwrld: gain: 70, tone: 50, level: 100, balance: 50

Section: super b: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 5, midfq: 300hz, gain: 35, level: 90, presence: 7, cab: swr4x10, mix: 50

Note: the first metal bass muff duplicates the metal muff sound without the top boost while the 2nd metal bass muff patch duplicates the metal muff sound with the top boost.

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch has light but warm overdrive sound with clarity.

Mega rock bass

Section 1: dual comp: hi: 30, lo: 25, freq: 1.0khz, level: 100, tone: 7

Section 2: t-scream: gain: 25, tone: 70, level: 100, balance: 45

Section 3: super b: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 7, gain: 35, level: 90, presence: 7, cab: al4x10, mix: 50

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch duplicates the heavy fuzz-like distortion sounds of a hartke bass fuzz.

Hartke bass fuzz 3

Section 1: m comp: thresh: 20, ratio: 4, level: 100, attack: 7

Section 2: squeak: gain: 70, tone: 45, level: 100, balance: 40
