Sure thing, BrentSimons. I was inspired by the demos of the gk mb500 fusion on youtube when I made this patch. I like the sound quality of those amps. which is what lead me to create this awesome patch. I really like how this patch turned out. so I kept this patch on my zoom b3.

I just, as I often do, plugged these numbers into my B1xon and sure enough, it's sounds great. Nice grind.

I started following this thread last year when I borrowed a buddy's B3 for a gig, and have stayed with it since.

I've been a Zoom user since the early 90's. Yup. I used the crappy first generation Zoom bass processor. The ugly gold thing. I used it live, too. Sounded horrid. Didn't care.

After a great experience with my friend's B3, when I started looking for effects again, I started with Zoom, obviously. I don't use many effects, other than just for inspiration, so a decent multi was the way to go for me. I ended up adding the B1xon to my pedalboard.

My current rig is pretty simple. I use a P-bass into the B1xon, then from there my signal goes to a tc Spectracomp and an MXR DI. No amp.

So the amp sims in the Zoom unit work great for me, with a nice thump and what seems like a wider range with the MXR.

Anyway, I'm babbling. Just wanted to say nice work with the Rex patch.

I did the best I could to duplicate rex's killer bass sound from the pantera song I'm broken. and it turned out killer. since you've mention that you own a zoom b1xon, you can use the patch ideas here with your zoom b1xon since both the b1xon and the b3 pretty much share the same effects, amp and cab models.

Killing some time and experimenting with some patches and realized the "Phat Punch" patch is a very usable tone for comping early ZZ Top, say off of Tres Hombres, Tejas, and Fandango. (I was playing my Jazz Bass through an Ampeg BA210v2, EQ flat, both pups @ 10, tone @ 2-3). For refresher sakes, here's the specs:

ZNR: THRSH 17, Detect GtrIn, Level 100
M Comp: THRSH 17, Ratio 4, ATTCK 7, Level 80
Flip Top: Gain 45, Bass 3, Mid 5, Mid_F 300Hz, Treble 4, Ultra Low, Level 90, Cab 4x10 SWR, Mix 50

I MAY have tweaked this a bit but I think this is to Crystalman's credit. I'm going to put this in my 70's rock toolbox and try it with some other bands and see if I can't use it in other places. It sounds good both fingerstyle and with a pick...

Thanks for sharing the patch idea. I have a friend who's dad plays in a zz top tribute band. and they sound awesome.

Here's a patch I came up with that closely duplicates rex brown's bass sound. I created this patch sometime ago.

Section 1: exciter: bass: 3, treble: 4, level: 90

Section 2: t-scream: gain: 30, tone: 75, level: 100, balance: 45

Section 3: svt: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 5, midfq: 250hz, gain: 40, level: 40, ultra: both, cab: ag8x10, mix: 50

Hopefully this patch would help you out.

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch closely simulates mec pick-ups as found on warwick basses.

MEC Simulation 2

Section 1: limiter: thresh: 20, ratio: 5, level: 100, release: 4

Section 2: exciter: bass: 4, treble: 5, level: 90

Section 3: bass pre: bass:4, treble: 3, level: 75, mid: 4, freq: 250hz

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch duplicates the valve distortion sounds of a joyo golden face distortion pedal.

Golden bass

Section 1: m comp: thresh: 20, ratio: 5, level: 100, attack: 7

Section 2: Squeak: gain: 25, toneL 40, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 3: super b: bass: 4, mid: 5, treble: 2, midfq: 250hz, gain: 30, presence: 7, cab: ag1x15, mix: 50

Here's another patch idea I came up with. inspired by a friend's rig at a party, this patch has transparent overdriven bass sound with clarity and punch.

Titan rock bass

Section 1: Dualcomp: hi: 25, lo: 30, freq: 1.0khz, level: 100, tone: 8

Section 2: d.i plus: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: 0, gain: 40, blend: 25, level: 100, color, on, chan: dist.

Section 3: super b: bass: 4, mid: 5, treble: 4, midfq: 250hz, gain: 30, presence: 7, cab: al4x10, mix: 50

Everyone knows that a flanger effect is acquired for that 46&2 sound. try using the vintage flanger effect for that.

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch closely duplicates the modern solid state sounds of a gallien-krueger mb500.

GK mb solid

Section 1: Splitter: hi: 30, lo: 32, freq: 250hz, level: 80

Section 2: bass bb: gain: 5, bass: 3, treble: -2, blend: 40, level: 70

Section 3: g-krueger: bass: 3, mid: 4, treble: 2, midfq: 250hz, gain: 45, level: 80, color: off, cab: swr4x10, mix: 50

Note: the bass bb simulates gain b on the gk mb 500 amps. you can engage it if you want that tube growl sound or disengage it for that pure clean preamp sound from gain a.
