Zoom B3 Patch mod

Hi there... New fella but old time forum reader.

After being reading all the good things you guys have write about the B3 I decided to get me one. I also noticed the real need of the mod for the patch select, this is a must have to smooth things up.

I'm just having a huge deal of problems trying to find an enclosure here in Norway, mostly because this country being in Europe is not part of the EU so, there is not many companies that sends purchases here. I was just hoping if someone could point me to a company where I can purchase pedal enclosures in Norway or a company which can send it here.

Thanks in advance and also much more thanks for the sharing of knowledge!!

Wow! what a fast response you didn't even gave me time to get a shower! :smug:

@oerk: Thanks I have send him an email, just waiting for response with crossed fingers.

@TitaniumRx: Thanks to you too. I normally purchase from Thomman but, I haven't seen enclosures on their site.

Nothing to forgive mate... English is not my first language neither. :)

That you have posted is a Pedal Bag, I was asking for pedal enclosures, which is this Invalid Link Removed so, to be able to customize it for whatever need you may have. In this case I want to make it be a patch select mod for the B3.

...But, then I did have a tiny problem. I made a hole on the B3's side and when I installed the stereo plug it didn't work. Then, I realized it was a problem with isolation and I covered the hole with the back of a Bic pen :rollno:

To solve the problem with the isolation, I used the battery housing to host the plug.

All good now...

;) I came out with that by looking at the possibilities, the only chance I had was to make a bigger hole, to then insert a plastic cover to be able to attach the stereo plug being isolated from the B3 chassis. While looking at the dismantled B3, I sow the big plastic chunk of battery compartment and since I'm not going to use it with batteries, there it was the solution like a ring to a finger. The only regret is to not have thought about it before I drilled the hole on the side :banghead:.

Btw... I'm so sorry for the bad quality of the pics, I didn't check them before postingo_O

Two better pics, I guess ashbass5 would like to post them on his site.

I posed this in the wrong thread, but was kindly directed here. Could you give me any opinions on the following post?

I'm not quite sure shich thread to post this in, but I wanted opinions from the B3 guru's, as to whether I am missing something.

I am thinking of doing the mod to add the external pedal for controlling play/patch up/patch down/tap. I was looking at parts from various manufacturers to build this, and basially it works out at around 30-40 euros for the parts.

On Thomann they have a simple 2 button switch for 12 euros:

It comes with a cable and stereo jack intalled. I am thinking of getting 2 of these and removing the connectors, to wire them to 1 connector into the B3.

This is the link to the pedal: Invalid Link Removed

Will this work, or am I mising something?

thanks.

I was waiting for someone with better electronic skills than me to answer you but, since its been a while since you posted I will try to give you a hint.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, the only thing is to take a testometter to check where the signal of 1 and 2 are going through so, you can then follow the instructions from Ashbass at Link Removed to assign 1 and 2 to whatever function you want to achieve on the B3.

I knew how to solder cables but, I learned this by the need to fix old cables after many years... I didn't had any clue about more serious electronic and I manage to do it without major problems. So, go ahead just think twice before you do a step to be sure you are on the right track.

Suerte!
