Zoom MS-60B announced... at last

Definitely thinking this pedal needs its own patch ideas thread. Some B3 stuff might be applicable, but there are all kinds of pedals that aren't available from one to the other.

The possibilities for live use keep expanding, just based on amp/eq modeling alone.

So far, I'm using mine @ the end of my chain, w/the 160comp and the gate on all the time. I have the Bass Detune and Bass Pitch available for switching on when needed.
I have a Slap patch set up w/Mcomp>ParaEQ>Ztron>Limiter.
Ztron is off and available.
This was how i originally envisioned using the 60B, just to fill out my Nano board, but now that I have it I feel I'm under using it.

So far I reaaaaallllly like the reverbs...which to me is probably the weakest things in most multieffects. I even plugged my Taylor acoustic I to it and it sounded awesome. The delays are nice. The Aguilar model is awesome on bass. The synths are nice. Flanger is good. The octave is good. Came VERY close to my EBS.

That's actually a pretty good use right there. I only realized yesterday you could stomp individual effects within a chain. That can be pretty darned handy...have a couple "always on" effects for tone and then one or two you can have available to stomp on and off.

I didn't know you could do that I'll have to read up on that.

yep you can turn individual effects on and off in a patch.

I'm thinking I have:

1. my clean bypassed tone which I like
2. a few dirt patches, I seem to be favoring a dirt pedal into an amp sim at the moment, so 2 effects in each of these patches. These just stay on for an entire tune.
3. some single effect patches: i.e. phaser, flanger, tremolo, reverb. I'm just using these for bits and pieces, so pull up the patch, click to engage effect, click to bypass and return to my straight bass tone.
4. multiple effects on and off in one tune: this is where things get tricky. I can try to scroll between individual effects in a patch turning them on and off, but I'm not sure of whether I can be that surgically precise with a pair of boots on.

It occurs to me that a small piece of plastic glued to each side button(to the right and left of the stomp switch) would make this type of foot scrolling between effects in a patch pretty easy. I have one particular tune in mind where I do some tremolo, then some brief distortion, but each just in a little bit of the song. Other than that my clean tone would be fine.

Eesh, where to begin. Don't have the list in front of me of the actual pedal models and their real counterparts, but off the top of my head based on the pedals I've owned:

• Sansamp (Bass Driver): don't like the sound of these in general, but I've had one and the Zoom NAILS it, plus gives you a mid control
• BB Preamp: sounds great...like it better than the real thing, actually, because it doesn't compress into nothingness when you dig into the strings hard
• OC-2 (Bass Octave): undecided; most are raving about this one but I find it has trouble holding steady on the note, even higher up the neck. The real thing usually does this on low notes but not on higher ones.
• Big Muff/ODB-3/M80 DI+ distortion: not really all that close to the real thing BUT definitely usable with some tweaking
• Phaser: not really impressed with this one yet, but I'm not sure what it's based on. If it's a Boss, maybe it's close; if it's a Phase90 not at all.


• Amp models in general: Not exact replicas of the sound of the individual amps, of course, but I'm very impressed with how much in the ballpark they are. None of them sound digital/synthetic the way a lot of emulators do.
• Filters in general: I've not owned a lot of filters, but these all sound very close to clips I've heard of the real thing and often give more parameter control

I think the A/B/C/D setup would be better for this. Assign the patches to the order you want and change to the mode that lets you scroll through the alphabet assignments with the footswitch, leaving one of the presets empty for your clean signal (or you could use a loop switch pedal as your on/off).
