This is something which was there in my old B1xon and seems to be unavailable in my new G3n and it's a HUGE bummer. In fact, you cannot use the pedal with any normal effect (like Particle Reverb, for example), the pedal only works with specific effect models which allow the use of a pedal. It's quite surprising that they'd remove such a basic feature. I'm almost feeling like ditching my G3n and getting a cheap B1x again and hooking it up with my external pedal :(

I believe the B3 (not the N) has this feature.

Just to clarify, does this mean that a select few parameters of an effect module (e.g. Particle Reverb or Mod Delay) can be assigned to the pedal? Does every individual effect in the B3 have certain pedal-assignable parameters, or do some effects not have any assignable parameters?

With G3n, only a select few effect modules can be controlled via the pedal - they're specifically labeled as Pedal-<name of effect>, e.g. Pedal delay. Apart from a pedal delay you cannot use the pedal on any other delay module.

Really like the MS-60B but I do notice some tone suck even when off. Bass into the VT Bass DI is the tone I like. When I want an additional effect, I'll pull up a patch on the MS-60B and punch on the Saturnworks True Bypass looper. I like the chorus and envelope filter options that the MS-60B has to offer. The RAT distortion sim is awesome as well.

On the B3 for example on the top of page 33 of the Owners Manual - Effects Types and Parameters it is denoted how and where "Pedal Control Possible Icon" because it is different with each effect, as chosen by those pesky Technology/Engineers, don'tcha know ;);). Sadly the B3 had no Particle Reverb -- but on the Mod Delay the Pedal has the option to control the Rate of the Modulation

Got it :thumbsup: on the G1on/B1on a vast majority of the parameters were assignable to pedals. I feel hamstrung by the lack of this feature in the G3n :(

So I answer my own question :

So I used this : Barsik-Barbosik/Zoom-Firmware-Editor

And I successfully "inject" GK & Eden amp model from MS60B into my MS70CDR

Basically what it does is extracting models from a source firmware (MS60B in my case), save them on files and inject those files containing models into destination firmware (MS70CDR in my case). The modified firmware (with new models on it) is then flashed into the unit using normal firmware update procedure from Zoom.

For some reason I only managed to inject those 2 amps model, others failed (tested with GK, Eden, Hartke & SVT). It seems that the firmware is very sensitive or there's some underlying differences on software architecture between MS60 & MS70, as even the injection order matters. For example : inject GK then Eden works, but the inverse failed. I'll do more test tomorrow, including injecting models from MS70, G1on or MS50G into B1on.

Regardless of the problem, the guy who wrote the apps deserves a big appreciation

Hey all... I just got a B1XFour as a birthday gift and looking forward to working with it!

The first challenge I have is with getting the computer to see it... I downloaded Guitar Lab and and System V2.00 Updater for Mac from the zoom-na.com website. Installed, attached B1X via USB, the app doesn't find any devices when opened. Anyone encounter this before? I don't see any forums discussion area or troubleshooting guides on their website. A YT vido suggests it the app should go through a process of discovery and the display should show some form of PC Mode message. Ain't happening here.

i have had my zoom b1four 3 days now have played 3 to 4 hours each day, my worship team hates it, i don't care about it either i am sending it back to zzound next week sometime, thank GOD for their 45 day return policy. i found it for me very undesirable, the sounds were lifeless and dull, i have had other zoom products and like them. i am thinking about going to a 3/4 rack processor, like one of the older boss processors. i have a friend who is going to let me try is vox stomplab for a few days he said he liked it. excuse my computer my cap locks don't work sometimes, this old computer has had coke pepsi and coffee with creamer spilled on the key board and went thru 10 grand kids. i should buy another one but its still works and i rather buy music stuff.

If it is anything like my B3n, you need the 2.0 firmware to use the GuitarLab software.

I hate those 'power only' cables, except for the magnetic ones. Glad you got it running. ToneLib is much easier to use IMHO.

I am the happy new owner of an MS60-B, which I bought recently after deciding to mostly switch away from dedicated effect pedals. My effect needs are pretty simple, so I'm able to just set up a few patches that meet them. In each of my patches, I start with a mild dbx 160 compressor and end with the AcBsPre set neutrally in terms of eq, mostly there to take advantage of the HPF. Right now I have just 5 patches: a default with just those two effects; one with reverb added, which I mostly use for my fretless solo playing; one with octave down; one with octave up; and one with auto wah. I have an individual distortion pedal that I like (EHX Lumberjack) that I place after the MS60-B so that I have the option of any of those 5 patches distorted as well.

For my simple needs, this is perfect, and I have plenty to experiment with in the future if I want to. It's only a few stomps to cycle between the patches that meet my needs, and it even has a built-in tuner (though I'm going to check its accuracy against my Polytune 3 mini before deciding if it meets my needs).

Anyway, thanks to all the MS60-B owners here on TB - your posts really helped me make an informed, realistic decision on whether this box could meet my needs, what its limitations are, etc.

Thanks! I did update the firmware as my first step after purchase. This was a used one and still had the v.1 firmware. :nailbiting:

THIS IS GOLDEN! Thanks man, yours and other people's posts at BassChat's pointed me to this fantastic app. I've just installed a new "personalized" firmware to my MS-60B (took out a dozen redundant choruses, reverbs, delays, the bomber, etc., and installed several guitar amps right out of the G1on firmware: Rectifier, JCM800&2000, AC30, Twin Reverb, Hiwatt, Bogner, Diezel). Now I have a very useful pallette for home recording guitars. Too bad this hack won't work with my B3 (at least as per the developer's disclaimer). I still think you'd probably be able to export individual effects out of its firmware (not a thing really as the MS-60B has all those effects and more). The guy who wrote this deserves all my respect and gratitude. As a software guy I love finding projects like this. Is there a way to donate a handful bucks?

EDIT: this 6min tutorial guided me thru' it EASILY...

Over the weekend a deal I couldn’t let pass showed up and just hours ago I picked up a G1Xon for 30€, like new, in its box and including a power supply. There was plenty of space in the firmware edition to add the basic effects I need for bass (Bass PEQ, SansAmp, AcBsPre and a handful others, less than a dozen overall). So now it's a G1Xon with the basic stuff I need there for bass, analog to my MS-60B that now has some added guitar amps in it. Love having the AUX IN so this will travel with me in a gigbag a lot. I copied a couple patches from my B3 and, besides initial need to set global/patch volumes I cannot tell a difference in tone between neither of them (B3, MS-60B, G1Xon).

Because I'm working in a couple different computers I've set up a folder to have all my Zoom FX firmware tweaking resources in one place. You'll see some G3/B3 stuff I stored there too, just ignore it, it's there for my use.

Totally related to this, has anyone ever tried to install G3 firmware to a B3 or viceversa? Thanks in advance.
