Yes, I've never ever heard of a 4.99K resistor, I presume it's a measured value. I used 5.1K for mine.
How come it worked fine with active basses????
I really have no clue. I have since sold the WM clone and have a real WM coming in the mail. Let's see if the WM really stands up to the hype.

Soon as I get paid for house sitting, I am going to make one of these. But I'm going to change out the pinch pot for a trimpot, and wire the wool pot in the side of the enclosure so I can adjust it with my foot.
Cause I mean, really, how often do you adjust things like a noise gate?
