These are super easy to build, even for a beginner. The whole thing can be fit into a Hammond 1590B enclosure. I put this one together in an afternoon.
Smallbear or Pedal parts are probably the easiest places to navigate through for beginners as they specialise in pedal bits. The larger electronics stores (mouser for example) require some trawling through to find the bits you're after.

I'm glad he's around, although I really wish he would just get his boards professionally done. I'd pay a couple bucks extra for a soldermasked board with plated through holes.

It is definitely worth learning how to use Mouser though, as they are the most reliable and most well-stocked source for parts.
Yeah, for sure. However, they don't sell heavy duty 3PDTs, so you're still going to need to source bits elsewhere. For a one off build, I'd probably stick with the ease of a simple store. Either way... There are plenty of options

I still can't believe how much these places charge for a 3PDT switch. Small Bear charges 9 bucks if you only buy one!
I dont mind pro boards, but I like making my own with the uv transfer method..its more geeky I guess.

That's the one thing I never messed around with...why bother when you can get pro boards for a couple bucks a piece?
Yeah, crazy... Also, they are crap 3PDTs IMO. Sometimes the lugs are loose and the red epoxy has cracks etc... I prefer the 'Cliff' ones that Pedal Parts sell at half the price.
The store on DIY Stompboxes does bulk lots of 3PDTs as well. They have been ok so far.
Already answered but yeah sticky backed velcro on the pots and underside of the board.
I use 'Bean for as much as I can. Easy layouts. But like Spencer said, a little more quality would be nice. I've never had a problem though. He even gave me a modded TS at Christmas last year through a BYOC pay it forward
. Good guy.I said it in another thread, but to me PPP can't be beat. Quicker processing (ime) than Small Bear, and better prices too. For bulk, if you know what you need, Mouser is the best.
just wanted to chime in and say that I ordered all the necessary parts for the "Fuzzy Elephant" in the past two weeks and finished assembly today. I have the ZVex enclosure from small bear and should be able to drill it sometime this or next week and I'll post pics!
This was my first effect build ever. I have very limited soldering experience and found that it was very simple to complete. I used some spare stripboard to practice soldering on and bam- I followed the schematic and after some trouble-shooting and about 200 google searches for 3PDT wiring I finally got it to work. It sounds SO GOOD! Absolutely nasty, really quiet, and very synthy. Exactly what I wanted. Spent in the neighborhood of $70 (give or take a few bucks) and have enough components to build another after I get another 3PDT, LED, and enclosure/knobs/pots. EXCITING! Build one! You will love it!

The problem I always have with clones is sourcing the parts. For example, try to find a 4.99K resistor at Small Bear or Pedal Parts. It's always an impossible challenge to find all the parts you need at one place.

You can sub a 5.1k for the 4.99k. And while it can be intimidating to hobby builders, Mouser does carry everything you need for a build like this. EDIT: except the 3PDT.
