The DCX sounds very nice, but it is very expensive. I don’t have it anymore but I didn’t find it at all better than other quality bass drive pedals.

I use and enjoy the Broughton Azure, Fliptop, Scorpion, SolidGoldFX BetaV, Damnation MBD3, Lusithand Rosa and Ground’n’Pound, Darkglass Vintage Microtubes.

Others I’ve had and passed along in recent years: Fairfield Barbershop, Xotic BB, the Origin Effects set.

Haven't listened to this in a while.

Back in the day, I heard it as a casual descendant of Valdez In The Country.

It reminds me of the challenge bass players had at that time of not only co-existing with the kick but also the clavinet.

The clav got hot around the time that more J Bass players were using rounds, and when the clav was played in the low register, that could be problematic.

The rhythm section is great, but a tune like this would have been perfect for Harvey Mason.

Hi,
A simple voltage meter is enough. Just test the voltage between your bass and earth pin in the nearest wall socket it should be no more than 10V in 230V if so don't trust.

If you get some switching noise, perhaps adding a 1 meg resistor (or higher value) across the switch will quiet the problem.

FYI, The reason I responded is because of the claims you made about isolating the two outputs...this is not accurate. Electrically both of your switching schemes put the output jacks in parallel. Electrically they are exactly the same; so there should be no difference in the level of attenuation.

Why did the first configuration cause the signal to drop? We haven't figured that out. The first idea I had is the switch is bad. But there are other potential causes.

The mastery is a replacement for the classic Fender Jazzmaster/Jaguar/Bass VII bridge, not for a TOM. You could instal one, but requires some surgery.

So, I bought the Petrucci X plugin. I (try to) play electric cello as well as bass, and the piezo clean amp sounds fantastic on the cello. I am super happy with this purchase right now

Yeah dude. The bandsaw cut the body blank and the bump was made then. That is what I said. The tapering round over on the body edge near the heel bump was clearly done by hand. I own a 62 and it was clearly hand done near the heel.

Loud isn't objective, depends on voicing and more. And distortion can sound louder.

Do you have the equipment for power mesurements? The difference between 250 and 350 W is hearable, but less as expected. May be in A-B comparisons.

Had I not found the Austrian Audio headphones that fit perfectly right out of the box with no mods, I would have bought Wicked Cushions for whatever pair I would have kept. Apart from a select few brands, headphone manufacturers seem to have very small heads and ears, or they can save serious money from making headphones a little too small.

I have a 1982 MC924 bass which I acquired a year or two ago for a pretty good price. It had a set of PJ EMGs in it and none of the original electronics but otherwise was (and still is) in outstanding shape and condition for an instrument this old. I briefly looked into getting hold of the original Ibanez pickups from somewhere but it seemed like more of an expensive rabbit hole than I needed. Currently, it is wired like a passive PJ bass with a Dimarzio model P and a generic rail humbucker type in the J position.

It's a great-looking and playing instrument. The notes are so even up and down the neck - I don't think I've played many guitars as even as this one. Nonetheless, I'm actually thinking of selling it. The main reason being that it just lacks a bright and open top end for some reason. I'm comparing it to the P Bass I have and it just sounds almost muffled by comparison - almost boomy, even though they both have the same Dimarzio pickup in them. I'm not sure what it is. I have experimented with the pickup heights in order to get the best balance of signal and tone, but it's still missing something.

Anyone got any suggestions for alternative pickups or anything I could do to get it to sound less muffled before I list it for sale?

Compared to what it costs our kids today, people with master's and doctoral degrees, BOTH spouses HAVE to work and the homes they purchased are 4-5x their COMBINED income. The same thing can be cited when purchasing cars back then. With a modest one-income salary, we got a new car every three years, though admittedly cars back then didn't last 10 years and went to the wrecker at 100,000 miles.

I dunno... Things today are complicated and IMO kind of a mess and really difficult to compare things from different eras because there are more facets involved pertaining to "affordability". JMO

My friend's neighbor was a garbageman. He had a wife, house in the suburbs and 4 kids.

In other news from across the pond, Manchester Evil beat Manchester Good 2-0 in a behind-closed-doors preseason friendly earlier today.

1) Sam Coffey played the second half for City, but I like her chances of winning a starting role before long.

2) According to United's official match report, City took the lead in the first half when "[Bunny] Shaw managed to pinch the ball from Phallon Tullis-Joyce’s feet." The report suggests that PTJ also made a couple of great saves to keep United in the match, but I am very troubled by the fact that after all this time she still does not look comfortable with the ball at her feet. The club recently signed a veteran German goalkeeper, who fans have all assumed was slated to be the backup -- our backup keepers last year were both very young and inexperienced -- but PTJ could potentially lose her status as a starter on a team whose keeper is actively involved in building out from the back.

Do they not offer it at all? In the build form there is an option for custom finish with a text box, I would have assumed that's there for exactly people wanting something they don't do often, like oil or a relic job or something like that

I could go on but you know and see it for yourself.

My advice (if you want it)? You said you’ve never played a vintage Fender and wondered. Go play some. Maybe you’ll find one you love, maybe not. But until you venture out you’ll never know. People are unique and so are our desires. Go find out and have fun.

P.S. as for me (if you care) I started the Fender pre-CBS Club here at TB after buying my first 1964 Precision. I was not into vintage instruments before that, but my experience was a happy one and I’ve loved that instrument and several others now ever since. But as we say on TB, YMMV.
