I agree with all of the comments above.

I do wish there were a good tripod option for the SLB300. The endpin works, but I’ve found that the bass can rotate around it, which can be frustrating.

I have played mine on a K&M stand in practice situations, but for me it isn’t really practical for a gig. The angle of the bass isn’t quite right, and I find that the stand interferes with playing in the higher register.

I’ve also realized that I tend to stand a little too much behind the bass. The Yamaha seems to work better when you approach it more from the side, as in the photo Wasnex posted. I’m still working on getting used to that position.

The design really requires the shoulder of the bass to rest against your stomach, which helps stabilize it. I also have the optional shoulder attachment, and I find that it makes it easier to control the bass while playing on the endpin.

For me, I’ve actually found that it works best when I’m playing seated. I seem to have much better stability and control that way. I also use the knee attachment which is also an option.

If someone came up with a tripod, I would definitely be interested.

I think I’m going to do that on my 4 string HH, but need to focus on doing the routing properly. Most likely going to do the $$ spacing like Warwick does. The neck pickup in the stock location is terrible, both for slapping and for sound, much too scooped and blah.

tried to post this yesterday but i cant find it IDK why so sorry if it's a double post.

got a scratched-up 2010 stiletto custom from local shop for $165. the back plate was missing and the electronics popping. i tried cleaning the pots and checking the wires but couldnt fix it.

bought a $25 Kaish preamp and put it in there to get it working so I could try and set it up. really happy with this as is does exactly what i needed = temporary use

created a janky back plate with a random piece of plastic

put a new set of daddario 105 flats that I use on my ibanez. the new set feels different than my other two sets like they are not polished

the frets on the bass were very worn so I did a level,crown and polish

setting it back up I really can’t get it dialed. The G is misbehaving and is requiring a higher action than I am used to and even when lifting it up more still buzzes on fret 8 and 11. I fear there isnt enough material left on the frets.

Put some labella tapewound 105’s on there and it’s a bit better with much less tension than the chromes but still buzzes on that G string

wish I could get it playing like my sr300. Ive got that thing set up but it has crap preamp - another long story

everyone loves the look of the Schecter and i hope i can get it playing with the low action i like but doubtful at this point

I bailed on this band, too, and I’m not even in it. Sounds like he’s developed it into something where HE can make money as long as he doesn’t pay anyone else much.

When testing the bass initially, everything sounded completely fine and all controls/EQ functioned normally. However, I’ve recently moved and currently don't have an amplifier set up to do further testing.

While replacing/checking the battery compartment, I noticed an extra black wire running alongside the main battery harness through the route into the battery cavity.

Here is what I've observed so far:

The 9V battery snap connector itself is fully intact, with its own red and black wires connected properly.

This extra black wire is unconnected in the battery cavity, with about 3 fine strands of copper exposed at the tip.

The battery cavity is made of plain plastic with no shielding foil or metal contact plates, so there are no signs of a snapped solder joint inside the battery compartment.

I opened the main control cavity to inspect the harness: all solder joints on the pots and jack look factory-clean. The bundle of wires includes a sleeve/tubing end that appears to be unused/empty, matching this wire's path.

Since I can't plug in and test for noise or active/passive output right now due to the move, I wanted to ask:

1. Is this extra black wire simply a factory dummy/spare ground wire from the harness for this model?

2. Should I just insulate the bare copper tip with electrical tape and leave it inside the cavity?

I've attached photos of the battery cavity and the control cavity for reference.

As someone else mentioned, I'd suspect a bridge ground wire that came disconnected either under the bridge or from its ground connection in the control cavity. Can you point out which of the wires in the control cavity this is?

Not bad....about 17 years since this thread started. I remember all the Xotic hype years ago....seems you don't really hear about them these days unless you go looking. I enjoyed some of the tech they used to cancel hum and liked some of the cool touches like the wooden p/u covers. All of this IIRC.....good luck on your search.

If you're looking to enhance your phrasing and Melodicism trying including slides/hammeron/pull offs between the b3-4-5 and the b7-root scale tones. It may help adding a vocalistic singing quality to your soloing—thats exactly what he does in this music clip.

Im not sure what you mean regarding the 10th and 12th frets; keep in mind the song/groove is in Bminor mostly in 2nd position, and he crushes it with minor pentatonic/blues scales fills at the 9th, 14th positions.

Orchestra and it is loose enough. You do have to be careful with the innovation strings, though, as the windings are not so robust. I have had a few unwind, and I’ve had a few rattling from loose windings.

It can work for Electric Bass with the tone stack. I have A series III Coda R combo, Series III Focus R supposedly 1000 watt head and yeah, no issues powering a 810 or 610 ( not my cabs ) and I also have a Series 4+ Clarus Head that I've used at an EB gig with a DoubleShot -- but I get better results for EB with the EA Whizzy 12's. Best to use an EB oriented preamp though although you can also preamp stack if you want.
