I use the grey nylon Jim Dunlops. The tip for more twang, the other corners for more thump (my preference but it depends on the song).

I am not a bass player.

I am trying to set up a sans amp di2112 for recording into ProTools Ultimate.

I have:
Fender Precision bass (passive pickup) mono TS instrument cable into di-2112

Di-2112 deep out using mono TS instruments cable INTO SWR REDHEAD effects return (to bypass the Swr Redhead preamp)

I am not hearing any signal coming out of SWR redhead amp speaker

I get speaker output in testing both TS instrument cables by connecting the bass into the passive jack on the SWR redhead head

I eventually will want to get a DI tube out line input and both XLR of the Di-2112 into ProTools once the other is working

I can mic the SWR redhead with a SM7B but I want to be able to record with line outs only

I missed out on the Broughton Calypso drop, not sure that would replicate the Doom 2, but I have wanted to try that out. The Doom 2 is a fantastic pedal for cutting through nice and clear in the IEMs. The YYZ, holy smokes, what a great pedal not only because it provides that Geddy crunch, but again, comes through nice a clear in the IEMs. I have not found another pedal that replicates, but I have not tried a lot of dirt.

I rehearse weekly with a space rock outfit that only gigs 4 times a year or so. People from different bands looking to let loose and experiment ... anything goes with that crew.

I got two set up in D standard for one band 2 set up for Eb for my other one and one in E standard. you can say the tunings are similar enough but I really hate the excess floppiness since I play very hard so it sounds very clacky in a bad way.

Been using a 50W tube amp onstage that I freaking adore and inserting my passive JDI after that for the FOH without issue. Except, there's no way not to have that linked to my stage volume.
I inserted the JDI ahead of the amp for a few shows, which seemed fine – until one sound guy needed more gain. Sometimes their board requires line level – other times it can't handle it. Those level switches on the VTBDI make a ton of sense for a guy like me, going into a different system every week.
I also appreciate the parallel output option and having three options for powering the VTBDI.
It feels a little weird to be hogging the power tube & transformer mojo mostly for myself onstage, but it does help me play my tastiest. That probably impacts the audience more than the FOH signal chain.
In terms of feel & dialing in what I crave, I have to say the tube amp & VTBDI seem very different. On the amp I just noon all the tone controls, set the volume and the response is perfect. The SansAmp seems more fiddly, like I need to read the manual & spend another afternoon trying stuff to get somewhere close to what the amp just... does.
But for FOH it seems to be a lot better than a neutral DI signal – especially when the sound guy lacks the time, gear, and/or inclination to work on the bass.
Maybe I just need more time to get to know the VT circuit. I did try using the effected output into a class D amp & found I preferred that over going straight in.

It was more out of curiosity and I really like the look of a telecaster body. It was my least favorite out of all the ones I was looking at because there was no track history. Honestly I would of built another warmoth bass before I went with this one.

I’ve noticed there’s been consistent interest in Ken Smith BSR5EG/Elite models, and I’m considering offering up my 2002 BSR5EG.
It has a highly figured Macassar ebony top, a 5-piece body with a walnut core and walnut back, and very low action. It is very clean, well cared for, and includes the original Ken Smith form-fitted rectangular hard case, also in great condition.

hi! i've only changed the strings since getting it, but i did peek under to see if the routing was a big cavity like thier short-scale. It looked like pickup-shaped slots so i guess if you filled in the screw holes it'd look ok. I kinda like the pickguard, gives a little definintion to the body shape. I saw someone got one in gold so maybe if you shoot an email you could get one that didn't have a pickguard installed.

I was at a Junk-shop and spotted a brand new black leather walkie-talkie holder and thought to myself:

"That looks like it'd fit a 1590N1 enclosure"; So I paid the C$5 and when I got it home — sure enough!

Tight fit, but it fits. There's a doodad that you put on your belt and then the walkie-talkie holder clips and unclips from the belt-fob easy-peasy.

I'm not using it like that, on the belt. I'm building a circuit into a 1590N1 and it'll sit on my pedalboard. I need to make some cuts to the leather to fit the stomper, but it could be a good solution for you, too.

Start the hunt for an old police walkie-talkie holder!
