Apparently because it started with a press release. It's too bad, there was some good discussion in there.
3tsb, there is a thread on the LOG board about this (Lakland Changes) in the Markus' Corner forum. I'd link it, but I'm not sure that's kosher, either.

News from April 30th, as the press release is dated, is old news? First I've heard of it.
Well, I'm impressed that he was able to sell it at all. It isn't exactly an industry secret that the business wasn't ever profitable. That he was able to sell it at all is impressive.
There was a long discussion that apparantly got deleted....

So, now we'll have pre-WhateverCompany Laklands and the newer, "never the same" models. Isn't that the way it always ends up?

Yeah that's right, I heard on HC that original Indonesian Laklands have way more mojo than the post-April-30th ones.
