There's a common misconception that the music biz is bigger than it really is. They sold 300 US basses in2004 and 1000 Skylines with a 10% margin. That ain't squat.

It's funny to read that, because originally they made a 34" scale 5 string, then went to 35 because that seemed to be what people wanted (me too at the time). And I hear you, because after 4 years with a 35" scale, very heavy bass (not lakland), I went back to 4 string, then 34" scale 5, now 33" scale 5 (7 lbs) as my hands and body are asking. Birdsong is in my future in about 5 years I think (for real, I have some arthritis issues from a disease I had 15 years ago, so if it gets worse I'll be at birdsong's door).

I haven't owned a Lakland as of yet ... pretty sure I will a some point. I always wanted to turn a Duck Dunn into a PJ :)
Perhaps they'll have something like that later down the road.

I wish the new owners well ... it always refreshing seeing an upstart bring something to the table ... and becoming well recognized.

Thanks for the clarification, JT. I tend to forget that my buddy Markus fits that definition, since he does graphic design for a long list of other folks. But I understand why the rule is what it is.:)

Have you made money on other brands when you sold them. I have typicall received market value unless it was a unique model or a vintage Bass - I don't think Laklands depreciate any more then any other brand and the US Models seem to hold their value pretty well?

It was a light hearted joke. Please dont take it as Lakland slamming. Its just that ive had more Laklands than any other makes.
Market value is still making a loss, no matter what it is you sell.
