Boss's answer to korg pitch black?

Hey guys,

just been doing some reasearch for a tuner.. and i searched the site for info on the boss tu-3.. is this Boss's answer to the korg? brighter leds +/-1cent which would then make it the same correctness? as the Korg pitchblack...

I tried the Boss tuner, Tu-3,I went with the Korg Pitch Black,it actually works.

If you going to make a purchase you can't go wrong with the Pitch Black.

Is the TU-3 actually on the market? I haven't seen them anywhere.

Thats weird because I live in australia the last place in the world to get gear and there is one au the guitar store...

I like the incorporation of the Bypass output. I wonder if that means you can tune and still pass signal.

You can but if I got it i'd be using it as a buffer... Do you really want people hearing you tune?

Maybe not live, but I can think of reasons why I'd like to pass signal while tuning at other times.

Boss TU-2 has 2 outputs. Mr. Cisneros uses his to split his signal:

Not an answer to Korg at all. It doesn't have the bells and whistles like stroboscopic tuning.
If nothing else I respect Boss for this. They do honest to God, well built products and don't try to jump onto the latest fashion trend, which may explain their longevity.

IME the PB isn't really a strobe tuner. It's just an LED pattern to make you think it's a strobe tuner.

Not that I know the difference other than strobe tuners like the Peterson and the Sonic Research are flawless and instantaneous trackers and more accurate.

I could be wrong though,...it wouldn't be the first time.

As far as the TU-3, I've seen some hubbub on it on the boss area forum. It's just an updated and refined TU-2 IMO. I see no reason to replace my TU-2 with one. I'm not the type of person that has to have the latest and greatest anyway.

well i haven't got a tuner.. i do it by ear and most the time im a little bit out

but i dont really know to get the PB or the TU-3

Im currently looking for a tuner as a christmas gift, and im leaning towards the Pitchblack as it seems to have slightly better reviews, and it's slightly cheaper!
Im quite impressed, but thats just on reviews, i havent had a chance to try on yet

It just looks like it has more LEDs in the scale.

The TU-2 (and presumably the TU-3) had a faux-strobe mode, like the PitchBlack.

Accuracy is still +/-1 cent, which is fine for stage, but not very useful for setup and intonation.

I'm sticking with the ST-200 Turbo Tuner and iPhone/iStroboSoft myself.

It could be a very useful function when playing fretless.

That's what I use it for, but I just use the tuner-out on my amp (or the parallel-out on my BDDI). It's like a constant kick-in-the-butt reminder to watch my intonation.

I don't think that Boss has to "answer" to anyone. They still probably sell more pedals every day than Sonic Research sells tuners in a month.

I dunno about that anymore. While Boss certainly overshadows almost anyone out there in pedal sales, let alone tuner sales, Sonic Research has definitely gotten their name out there recently.

Maybe, in the US. AFAIK, Turbo Tuners are not distributed in Europe. Over here I've seen exactly ONE Turbo Tuner and the guy had a friend who went on a trip across the ocean buy it for him and bring it back.
