    Why no G&L LB100 Tribute?

I like the Tribute JB-2 but was not crazy with the color options (clear w/rosewood or sunburst w/maple no pickguard). The tone is great, a little on the aggressive side thanks to the beefy PUPs. It is a great j-bass bargain in the $400-$450 range. You dress one of those up with a tortoise or...

    G&L Club Part 7

I got mine a couple of weeks ago. I was looking for a deal on a Tribute JB-2 but was hard to pass on the M-2000 for about the same price. But the shop that I bought mine from on Reverb has them for an additional 15% off with the current sale. That would have taken it down to about $425...

    G&L Club Part 7

Are tribute owners allowed to join the club, or do they have a club of their owner? Here is my recently acquired G&L Tribute M-2000 GTS. The EQ is great and easy to dial in the tone. Fit and finish are nice. It was a closeout deal on Reverb. I guess they discontinued the finish and banding...

NBD - Fender P-Bass MIM Lake Placid Blue

After 24 hours at room temp, the set up is still good. My other basses have something closer to a Jazz neck, so that is taking a little getting used to. I like the tone I am getting out of it. I do have a set of flat wounds I plan to try out on it though. I might take you up on that...

NBD - Fender P-Bass MIM Lake Placid Blue

The color is nice. The flash made it brighter, but it changes a little depending on the light. I will play with it a bit before I decide on new pick ups though. The only other new basses I have owned have been a pair of Washburns. Out of the box the Fender blows it away for playability...

NBD - Fender P-Bass MIM Lake Placid Blue

I have been a big Iron Maiden Fan for over 35 years. If I were to get a tattoo, it would be Eddie from the Killers album. But I am not a tattoo person, so last year I commisioned a pair of Eddie Tobacco Pipes: Back in the 80's, when I used to play bass, I spent many hours trying to play...

    NBD, I Gotta P!

Congrats!!! I hope it sounds and plays as good as it looks!!! Love the pearloid pick guard, it just sets it off. I was expecting to have my P-Bass NBD today but I got an email from UPS that my package is stuck in Nashville. So I guess it just wanted to hang an extra day in Music City...

Why aren't Dean basses more popular?

There is one of those pink ones for sale near me for $50. I have read some good things about that series too. I like the Metalman series too. I just don't know when I would play them. But could see myself buying one on an impluse purchase.

Looking to buy a new bass guitar around $300-350

Both the Ibanez and Yamaha you mentioned are fine basses that will make it easy to switch between different tones options. The batteries are no big deal. Keep a spare in your case. If you want passive, you may find a used Fender P or J Bass in the $300-$400 range. Another to consider is...

    Nostalgic bass purchases

I am actually feeling nostalgic for a Washburn too. My first nice bass was a Washburn P-Bass Copy, I think a WP-4 then I got either a B10 or B15. There is a P4 P-bass copy on sale not too far from me that is tempting. I will have to think about it.

    Fender Rumble Club

I joined the club yesterday. I picked up a Rumbe 25 for home practice. I played around with tones a little, but mostly I am keeping things clean since I am trying to relearn bass after decades away. Sure I will love it!

Playing Again After a 30 Year Hiatus

I was OK at playing along with metal and puck stuff. But there is a difference between learning a songs and a scales and notes. But when I was 15 I wanted to play along to my Black Flag and Ramones' records and got pretty good. Later I learned a lot of Iron Maiden using Tabs from a music...

New Members: How did you find TalkBass?

I was researching equipment and the forums came up a lot. There would be several posts about what I was looking at in the forum.

Playing Again After a 30 Year Hiatus

Hi, my name is Mike. I am originally from the Boston area but now live in Greenville, SC. Back in the 80s, I used to play Bass. I gigged a few times in different punk and metal bands mostly as a fill in. I had a couple of Washburns back in the day. I took a few of lessons but was pretty...
