    Washburn Club Thread

Singapore checking in here. I have a Washburn Bantam Bass. Bought it from Basses NW in Seattle in oh the late 1990s. Used to be played by a churchman, from the legacy stuff bequeathed to me in the case when I bought it. Plays like a dream, light as a feather with a nice beefy tone. On a...

    the rocker?

I LOVE this movie. The basslines on some of the tracks like "Tomorrow Never Comes" are good. And they do a good cover of "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel. The backing vocals and tight bass and drums really make the songs for me, and Rainn Wilson is hilarious. I watch this show (alternating with...

My action is so high, anyone using it needs a Sherpa to get up my bass, baby! ;-)

Does everyone NEED a P bass?

One sign of the influence of the P is the number of P threads I'm seeing in a row tonight. Having said that, I don't think everyone needs a P in their lineup. A good sense of time, helps though.

    Are P Basses Invincible?

Er no, IMHO. I've seen the same thing which you have described happen with many other brands of bass which don't need enhancements/pedals to blow socks off. Sounds like the player knew his stuff. And this is said with all the respect for the P as *the* bass that paved away for all the others.

    Thunderbird questions.

Dude, you are gonna look like Kirk Hammet showed up at the Blue Note cellar if you know what I mean, but - and due diligence declared unapologetically from a T-bird player - your Bird can walk Charlie Parker and his gang all the way downtown, man! ;-) Nothing to add to what other posters have...

    Warwick Rock Basses

I'll get to your price question in a bit but... Just an experience from using a butterscotch Rockbass Corvette bought in Singapore. I bought one on an impulse - they sound good and are lightweight. But... the apparent lack of QC in the manufacturing on the particular bass I purchased led to...

Lets Hear About Some Bad Bass Experiences!

A '97 Made in USA passive Fender Jazz. Sounded OK in the shop, I swear, and preferred it over the thud of a P-Bass. Just couldn't make it work after the cash was in the register - tried it in studio, live, etc. Anemic, dull tone. Spent a tonne and years trying to solve the problem - took it...

How old is too old to rock? Dazed and confused.

Dude, 40 here. Just about to go into studio to record my band's second full-length album; gigs and hopefully a tour thereafter. Believe! You are never too old. Just have to find the right partners who want to rock up with you!

    Looking for a beater - Rockbass o.k.?

Just sharing: the following is strictly my own experience. I bought a Rockbass 4-string for pretty much the same reasons. The electronics died on me after a few months, the volume pot jammed and stopped functioning and I've met a few owners - like myself - who found the jack comes loose very...
