Well, to each their own. :) For me all these features are mandatory since I purchased the OCSD mainly as a silent practice tool and my bass sound is all about mids. I can't imagine being without those controls other than having an additional EQ.

If you don't need the mid controls, the headphone amp and the aux in, absolutely go for the mini. :thumbsup:

Just tried it. Makes a huge difference. The sound is a lot tighter especially with the growl switch engaged.

I was surprised too, since the reason buying them was me thinking they're round core. But they weren't terribly stiff for hex core in these gauges. I might buy them in the future again since they're reasonably priced and sound fine. I like them more than D'Addario EXL although I know D'Addario...

I was also pretty sure that they have strung them with D'Addario EXL170-5 SL. At least all of the former BB X-series had them. Even the Japanese made models afaik.

What's your definition of a split coil? A split coil for me is a P style pickup. A humbucking J for me is a side-by-side or in-line humbucker.

Bought a set a few weeks ago and on the package it says hex core. They are good strings. Nothing special but very solid. Similar to D'Addario Nickels. The .110 E is a good match for the rest of the set.
