SOLD Custom 6 string Brice BLOWOUT SALE *$199

darn! well, that's ok. it looks like a killer bass, and must surely sound great. i'm just very used to my fodera's 21mm beastly anthony J spacing, so my brice (at 19mm) is a good backup. 17's a bit tight. but, good luck with the sale! somebody should jump on it.

    Rare recordings of Jaco!

also- jeff berlin is a great player... but i think his opinion about jaco not cutting changes was shaped by a jam they did, that occurred a short while before jaco's passing. jaco was in very rough shape all around. had that exchange occurred in, say, '76, i think ol' jeff would be thinking a...

How to play like Phil Lesh?

if nobody's mentioned it, a huge part of phil's approach is rhythmic.. he offsets the "one" more often than not... bobby does the same, and that has helped build the dead's unique architecture to a large extent.

When tattoos make you look ridiculous

my 2 pesos- tats are as old as the human species- mine are for personal, time-honoring reasons- chances are, so are yours- they look great on some of us, dumb and trend-whore on others of us- tat artists vary INSANELY in terms of work quality and actual draftsmanship ability- don't get...

Hadrien Faraud No Longer With MacLaughlin

this is definitely one of the most intriguing and well-thought threads in a while. all comments about hadrien's and etienne's game-changing chops and polar-opposite ensemble roles have been articulated in smart, humane fashion. it seems to me that hadrien's playing is often so ferocious, so...

    Double Bass Eberhard Weber Question

'The Following Morning' album is remarkable. i got it when it came out, and it's still on my monthly playlist... there's a very cool long semi-silence at the top, with the players rustling in the cavernous ECM aural environment, then the 1st track arrives with an awesome initial sustained chord...

    Jaco's best album(s)

yeah man.. all of '76 is liquid gold, jaco in his total prime. chicago mike's trio suggestion is fantastic (called TRILOGUE), as it has jaco in a very sparse setting (T-bonist playing multiphonics, bass, drums), at berlin jazztage festival, playing really interesting, "free but direction'd"...
