I have a PF800 that likes to go into fault mode. Stupid questions. What would it do to the amp if I used it as a preamp only? I've noticed that when it shuts down it kills the output to the speakers but the DI still works. Will it do any more damage to the amp if I were to take it out live...

Any pictures of the back of the cabinet, especially the jackplate? That should have all the info we need. From the logo that appears to be a newer style cabinet. Hopefully someone who knows more can chime in.

They're now up to revision H? I had a 7 Pro ages ago and had problems with it shutting down also. At the time the C00 revision was supposed to cure all the problems. I had mine fixed and sold it as soon as I got it back because I couldn't trust it.

I've got an older silver cube 60 keyboard amps. Still have the cover for it. It's been thru hell and back. The original speaker is long gone and I'm not sure what's in it. I've used it for keyboards, guitar as well as a practice bass amp. I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon.

Mine's a Frankenstein. It was originally a Hartke combo with a 200 watt head and an aluminum coned 15. I sold the head and put in a Fender BXR300C head. I blew the speaker and put in a Carvin 800 watt 4 ohm speaker. Occasionally I'll push the speaker with an Ampeg PF800. Either way this combo...

Depends on how often you play. Before I sold my 70s SVT I was playing twice every weekend and get 2-3 years out of a set of Svetlanas.

Until I got my PF800, all the bass amps I had before that (with the exception of my Sunn 1200s hybrid rack mount amp) were non master volume amps. Clean as could be. Ill have to try that with the PF800 and see what happens.

It reminds me of the 3 Pro I used to have. Both were underpowered for what they were rated at. I sold my 7 pro as I was unhappy with it. The transformer smoked in my 3 Pro. I have a PF800 which also seems to be way underpowered. My Sunn 1200s rackmount head eats them all alive.
