Hello there. I am not sure how comfortable you are with setting up your truss rod. If loosening the truss rod hasnt helped to increase neck relief; then i would take the strings off and check what the relief is without the strings on. Then check to see if anything changes when you loosen and...

Hey there, I am curious to know if the light weight Schaller M4S tuners can be used to replace the stock tuners (i.e heavy weight tuners) on my 92 Mk2 4 string bass (with a regular Wal headstock) or if there will need to be some modifications (eg new screw holes drilled) to get them to fit?

I am so glad i bought my 4 string mk2 when i did - i bought it around 3 years ago. It was stretching my budget at the time for the price i paid for it. Now the prices are beyond what i could afford especially once you include shipping / taxes etc getting it to New Zealand. I was extremely...

It is only a guess but it might be because fretted bass seems to be more popular than fretless. Fretless Wals sounds great but if it were my first Wal i would def be wanting to buy a fretted Wal before considering a fretless.

I wouldn't hesitate to get to get the Wal converted from fretless to fretted. It seems from my observations that fretted Wals, including one that have been converted from fretless to fretted, seem to be more sell-able on the second hand market in comparison to fretless Wals. I recommend that...

Ebony is a harder wood than rosewood therefore better suited for fretless fingerboards on bass guitars. Dont worry about if there is or isn't any sound difference between the two woods - most would argue that there isn't any sound difference at all once the bass is plugged in

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and FFA obviously like both Wals and Jazz basses. The real thing is better ha

Do you ever keep your old strings?

I give away my old strings after i put new strings on my basses - i am surprised by how much people appreciate getting them which is why i keep doing it - i am guessing it saves them money which is prob why they appreciate it. It also saves me from the feeling of guilt when you just throw them away

Yeah that has happened to me on the odd occasion where i didnt get charged GST after the shipment arrived by NZ Customs - so i am going to wait to see if i get lucky or not first before contacting them just in case they let it go through without them charging me the 15 % GST.
