You mean the long ones that you use to move the saddles back and forth for intonation in your photo? Those are fine... It's the tiny little ball-end screws that fit into the saddles from the top (2 for each string) that I'm looking for. But perhaps that's what you meant.

Can anyone confirm if a Wal Pro trussrod needs to be adjusted clockwise or anticlockwise to increase relief please?
The neck on mine is almost dead straight but after adjusting the truss rod and leaving the bass over night nothing seems to have happened. I've tried adjusting it in the opposite direction and again, no difference. Is the thread on these truss rods much finer than normal so I need to make larger adjustments before I notice results?
Normally on my Warwicks a quarter turn yields noticeable results...

I dont know about Pro basses, but a 1/4 is way more than enough change on mine. I'm usually about 1/8 turn.

What kind of strings are on it? If they're too light they might not be pulling enough on the neck.

Thanks Mike. Medium gauge strings. I've turned it a full revolution counterclockwise and waited overnight, still nothing. I've just turned it more and noticed that the rod is now starting to protrude from the bass of the neck. I'm pretty sure this is not normal!
But what I don't understand is if the truss rod is not actively preventing the neck from bowing, why is it still straight? Do Wal necks have reinforcing bars in them?

Hello there. I am not sure how comfortable you are with setting up your truss rod. If loosening the truss rod hasnt helped to increase neck relief; then i would take the strings off and check what the relief is without the strings on. Then check to see if anything changes when you loosen and tighten the truss rod to see if the truss rod is working or not or if the problem is with the neck. That is what i would do if i was in your shoes... If you are not comfortable with doing truss rod checks and setups, i would take it to a guitar tech and get them to do it.

Hi, I'm very comfortable with it. I've setup dozens of basses in my time. Just never come across one with an Inactive truss rod and never a Wal.
I'll do as you suggested and see what I can see. I'm in the middle of moving house though so I might need a few days...

Just don't do what I did... I wasn't seeing any results from turning and eventually I just tried to go farther than it wanted. Snap. The End.

Surgery in September... hopefully.

Wal pro basses indeed have 2 carbon fiber reinforcing bars in them.

paul sent me a set of those screws after a couple on my bass got stripped on the head...wasn't expensive from what i can recall.

I'm curious: How do you check relief without strings on? I always use feeler guages to measure the distance between the top of the 7th or 8th fret and the bottom of a string capo'd at the first and last fret; but without that "virtual straightedge" I'm not sure what I'd be measuring or referencing.

The hornbeam was replaced by the mahogany stringers in the current neck design, correct?
