    Colledge's 5 string fretless project

The neck is a bit thicker than i'm used to... i'm used to a really this 4 string. but otherwise it feels really nice. Has a tone ive never heard before, kind of musicman with somehow a bit of p in there, its surprisingly bright for a fretless. I've got no fretless skill at the moment so it'll be...

well i did well at keeping this thread up to date, didnt I! bass is finished, has been for a couple of weeks, hand in date for the A-level project was today. heres a few pictures, ive got a full build log in my design folder, will post it up when i have time to decipher it from the publisher...

    Advice on 2x12 cab build

i'm a newb to cab building as a whole but i have plenty of experience with ye olde ply, so the building aspect shouldnt be a problem. The hurdle i have to get over is design and specs, i've used the search function as much as i could but couldn't find any decent info. I'm not after a completely...

    Team Trace Elliot!

heres my 1528, the cab sounds completely awesome.... but i'm not sure it'll stay in my hands for very long. lack of space is a killer.

    coil over lowering springs

having lower springs will make the lifespan of your shocks drop, anything more than 50mm drop and you'll be better off either shelling out for a fully adjustable coilover set or some sport shocks. below that its usually fine to just get a set of lowering springs.... assuming your shocks are in...

    Guitarist using Bass Cabinet...

having a guitarist using a bas cab might make it a bit harder for you to cut through the mix, but otherwise should be fine. Josh homme (kyuss, queens of the stone age, them crooked vultures) used to use bass cabs to get his trademark bass heavy tone.

    Overrated?

i was under the impression that eden gear was some of the best around....

    Which 2x15?

i just picked up a trace 1528 for cheap and it sounds great. deep DEEP lows and a good midrange punch. only problem is living on the 3rd floor.... so yeah i'd suggest you have a look at some trace stuff, but as already stated, ive heard good things about both mesa and fender.

    Ashdown Perfect Ten: Opinions?

ive had the original perfect 10 mini rig for a good 4 or so years. The one with 2 10" cabs, 60w. its been a great amp, reliable and great sounding. I definitely prefer it to bedroom practicing to my mag600 head.

Amp and cab advice for stoner/doom

i recently saw karma to burn, the bassist used an ampeg 8x10 with an acoustic head (not sure which) and his tone is pure distorted, guitarish, doomy stuff and it cut through like a hot knife through butter. sounded great.

    Ashdown Little Giant cheap deal.

the abm series does look much better quality and to be better tuned.... i'll rephrase my comment, i wouldn't go for any mag series ashdown cabs if i was getting a new rig.

    Ashdown Little Giant cheap deal.

that seems like a killer deal, after the fail that was the superfly amp, i personally wouldn't get one, but its apparently solid now. If i where you though i'd go for something other than ashdown cabs, they just seem a bit lacking in the guts department, although i only have the mag 210 and 115...

    ASHDOWN 300W AMPS

i have the mag600 head, which is pretty much the same amp but with double the power. The ashdown mag series have a good tone, clean clear and deep but to me i think its a bit too sterile. Also for loud band playing i'd say the 210 combo alone won't cut it, you'd need an extension cab to get the...

moving to Europe, amp decision to make

uaudio has the right idea, here in the uk mesa stuff is very rare and very expensive..... if you could get it converted / shipped relatively cheap and easily, then you could make some money.
