Most beautiful Stingray 5 you've ever seen

That is pretty smart with the black trim. I much prefer it to the neck through one you got originally.

    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

My 1967 Verithin has been away for a bit of TLC with my tame luthier on Denmark Street in London. Came back sounding a lot better and looking rather shinier than it was. I asked him to put a set of D'Addario Chromes on and they suit it just fine. My Höfner Verithin Bass by Rob Telford, on...

How many types of bass are there?

Kala make solid body U basses with piezo pickups too. Godin basses are semis and no different to a Gibson EB-2. My SR5 has a single humbucker and a piezo - though the switch allows you to play with how the H pickup is configured.

How many types of bass are there?

Except the Gibson EB-1, which was launched in 1953, had a solid body (albeit with fake, painted-on f-holes). The EB-0 that replaced it in 1959 had a solid body too. Höfner launched their 500/1 Violin Bass at the Frankfurt Music Fair in the spring of 1956. It wasn't until Gibson brought out the...

    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

A little Hofner entertainment - Causing Complications by mod-revivalists, The VIPs, 1978 Andrew Price on bass with his Verithin. Apparently, he retired from music and became a computer programmer after the band split at the end of 1980.

    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

For general edification, I got a reply from Hofner on this question, to which they say a vintage Verithin will fit in the new case, providing it still has the original tuners. Apparently, space is a little tight around the headstock and larger replacement tuners may prevent the bass from fitting...

    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

BTW, does anyone know whether the new case Hofner make for the Verythin CT re-issue will fit an original Verithin / 500/7? The 1980s wooden slab case I have for mine is on its last legs and needs replacing.
