The P Bass sounds like a no-brainer for that use...and there is versatility in tone with the Dimarzio P/U. My big question would be about the build year. I'd call Scott and ask him what he put in that bass and how it compares to what he's building now.

I have a fretted mesquite Corto 2 (C 327 made in 2015)...the favorite of my three Birdsongs. The mesquite wood is relatively hard (and a bit heavy)...great sustain on mine.

Hum, no. Grounding issues, yes. C 327 had an issue with the jack upon arrival ...bare wires touching. Then later with some of the tag ends on the wires to the pots touching the copper shielding. All easily resolved. No issues at all with F-042. I do have a spacer under the pickup to...

(1) Yes. Not sure I'd call it "muffled"...I love that the Volume controls give me different tonal options. I rarely run either of my Birdsongs full on. (2) Love the profile of the neck.

No, but that one and the Wattplower look like they are taking dead aim at the Gibson SG market. Spector has a new short scale out as well...the Bantam. Meanwhile, looking forward to BX035 joining F042 and C327 in my flock later this year.
