    Bi-amping question

Unless the cab in question is of a variety that would extremely rare, please don't do this. Please visit the Amps FAQ posts to help you understand why this is not bi-amping and will likely destroy all three components. It can help to get more specific answers if you tell us about the heads and cab.

    Question for Avatar owners

Aside from the specifics concerning Avatar, I'm trying to imagine any decent cab that did a removable back panel that would just rattle loose over time. A cab with that level of engineering/build quality would have me more concerned about the drivers falling out before the back panel ever had a...

What kind of bassist are you?

    Spectacularly mediocre.

    Deal or no Deal?

I watched a decent one sell at a shop yesterday for $225. Would have considered it myself. If it's in good shape, it's a deal.

    Staring too late?

It's never too late to start. If you want to learn more and have the time, even 30 min 5 times a week, do it. Don't over think it. Have fun.

    Possible GK problem

Time to start the drill, on Wednesday. Try the head with a different cab and then switch, cab with different head. Do this with an actual bass plugged in. That should narrow the problem very quickly.

    what are these strings?

Agreed. Watch out, they are crazy expensive. I paid almost $25 for my set! ;) Easily the best $25 I have ever spent.

GK Backline 600 Head Review and Mega-Thread

I've owned mine for 3 years. Primarily used at home with a 2x10 as it is no longer part of my stage rig. I still toss it in the truck as a back-up knowing it will be there for me if I need it. I've used several different cab configurations with no complaints. The current cab it's attached to...

Do you gig out old basses (say 20+ years)?

It's a perspective. This perspective demands that any item that no longer serves its purpose has lost its value. It is a counter to the perspective that a thing can hold inherent value by virtue of its provenance and existence. Some would argue that valuation of this sort is the single biggest...

I STILL fail at getting volume!!!!

The guitar player in my band runs a Marshall half-stack (4x12). I'm not even sure of the wattage. He runs a Hot Plate when we play OUT. At punk/rock gigs. With a full band in medium to large rooms. He does this so he doesn't tear his own head off. I wear earplugs ALWAYS, and he damn near tears...

What is the 4-string with the best action?

Subjectivity aside, the bass that fits the description you've given is one that has been set up that way. With the exception of basses that have inadequate, damaged or malfunctioning components, any bass should conform to that desired style of playability if set up with that in mind.

If you play with a pick at a gig, do chicks still think you're playing a guitar??

Most chicks I know that would even care that it's a bass in your hands play bass better than most guys that claim to be "bassists". So do your thing, rock out, there are no rules about what you do on stage. As said above, do it well.
