Just auditioned for Lady Gaga's 2010 world tour....

Better off without the gig mate... last guy I saw on TV playing with her was rubbish and his only discerning quality (as far as GaGa was probably concerned) was that he looked like a pop-rock douchebag; just her style.

2 Free Song Downloads From My Band

Hi guys and girls. I haven't posted on here in ages and I was never the most prevalent poster at the best of times but my band have been in the studio lately and we have a couple of tracks finished. We're taking the free download approach and are looking to spread the music as far and wide as...

    Favorite Bass Solo(s)

I would have to say my favourite bass solo is Victor Wooten's version of 'Amazing Grace'. I also like 'Mr. Pink' by Level 42, which is essentially an extended bass solo, and I just got Jeff Schmidt's album Outré recently and 'Mudita' is a great solo piece.

Has Anyone Ever Changed The Nut On Their Warwick Themselves?

Just thought I'd give you all an update... I changed the nut myself, took only a few minutes and it was a piece of cake. It now sounds gorgeous with a new set of Warwick extra lights on it! Thanks again everyone.

Has Anyone Ever Changed The Nut On Their Warwick Themselves?

Thanks guys, yeah I figured the strings would have to come off in any case... just wasn't sure if there was some sort of truss rod trickery that had to be done! Don't worry, I will be running everything by the owner. He's the keyboard player in my band... I actually alerted him to the bass when...

Has Anyone Ever Changed The Nut On Their Warwick Themselves?

Hi everyone, It's been ages since I last posted on here but every time I visit this place it has good advice. My issue relates specifically to the nut of the Warwick Corvette 4 string but if anyone has any advice on changing nuts in general I'd be most grateful. I recently got the loan of...

What song still brings a lump to your throat?

"An Ending (Ascent)" by Brian Eno is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever made in my opinion. It's an instrumental piece but is more powerful than most songs with lyrics. "I just don't think I'll Ever Get Over You" by Colin Hay is a lovely song too and I've always liked "Perfect...

If you had to choose only one?

I'd go for a 4-string active. I have a 6-string active but sometimes you want the 4 string for when you really want to fly and I prefer the active setup to the passive.

Are there any new bassists like...

Jacques Lu Cont of Les Rythmes Digitales and Zoot Women is a great bass player whenever he plays the damn thing! Saw him on channel 4 one night doing some great disco slap bass. His music sounds like sampled DJ stuff on the recordings but he plays all the instruments ...check out his bassline to...

    Most underrated rhythm section(s)

The Police: Stewart Copeland/Sting (Copeland is my favourite drummer ever) Rage Against The Machine Brad Wilk/Timmy Comerford Chic Tony Thompson/Bernard Edwards Ian Dury & The Blockheads Charlie Charles/Norman Watt-Roy King Crimson Bill Bruford/Tony Levin Pearl Jam Matt Cameron/Jeff Ament Rush...

    Bassists you just can't watch

I have real problems watching left handers play purely because I find it harder to relate to what they're doing, even Jeff Schmidt who is a fantastic bass player. I don't like the way Flea molests his bass during live performances either, even though his recordings often sound great.

Pix of Actors that are bassists

The pic with him playing the Fender are from his days in a band called the Sparrows. He currently plays in a band called RRIICCEE, which I'm guessing the Rickenbacker pic is from. He also done an album under his own name called 'When'. I like Gallo as an actor, I think he's great and he has...

Who here plays a 6 string bass in a cover band?

I play my six string for 95% of what I do onstage with my band. Would you believe some idiots think it's a guitar! The best thing about the 6 string is that sometimes you'll get a young band ask you if they can play a few songs during your break but when they see the 6 string the bass player...

Pix of Actors that are bassists

Actor, director, producer and all-round loony toon Vincent Gallo was a bass player in many bands throughout his life, though now he seems to spend more time on guitar among other things. He was in films such as Buffalo 66, The Brown Bunny, Palookaville, Trouble Every Day, Arizona Dream and...

Jeff Schmidt (and any other not-so-well-known artists)

I love what I've seen of Jeff online. I reckon I'm gonna splash out on his album for xmas. He plays a lot of baritone guitar and picollo bass type-stuff I believe, hence why he gets some very unique sounding basslines. He's based in San Francisco ...I really need to check that place out, some of...
