Yeah, what a visual nightmare:

You're just feeling emasculated 'cause this lit'l cutie can probably kick your butt all over the room in the chops department. :smug:

+1 for Tal

Rocco Prestia. Love his music a lot, but his left hand just looks stupid, and his right hand freaks me out... there's an old fart with mega fast chops and crazy stamina... he keeps straight 16ths up for a whole song - I freak out... that's insane. He then precedes to go into the next song and does it all again.

whoever it was that said Pete Wentz "proved" his bass chops with "sugar we're goin down" and "Dance Dance", r u serious?

our drummer picked up a bass for the first time at a practice, and figured out dance dance in about 4.897 seconds...

oh yea, SERIOUS chops homie

XZACTALLY....jealously is a killer:mad: when it comes to playing ofcourse. She is very soothing to the eye though and I do love the way she plays...not to be a whimp but every time I see the vid of her and Beck doing that Beatles classic A day in the Life..I tear up....Thinking about all the legends that beck has played with in the past and to see her touring and playing with him makes me wanna say "you go girl!!!!" :bassist::hyper::bassist::hyper:

Funny maybe, but I never thaught about looks in regards to bassists or bass playing.
I love steve swallows playing, gary willis's playing and many others'. looks have so far not bothered me. If I like what I hear, all's good. :)

Kinda skimmed throught the whole thread---but----
When I saw Trujillo LIVE, it was early 90's with
INFECTIOUS GROOVES, and he was waaaaayy cooler than his stint
in the metal world.

It's all about being in your own element, and with I-GROOVES, he was
definitely in his element---one of the best performances I've ever seen.

Plus, anyone bagging on Flea or Claypool------they really wouldn't be as original as they are if they looked like Jeff Berlin would they ?

Magic thread,

The bassist out of Toto, saw them on a live dvd and he was holding a single note for a few minutes while looking like he's taking a dump. I mean come on, we're is the stress in that. I'm not exaggerating either, he was in absolute meltdown.

All of course while the guitarist is pulling of incredible solos and smiling calm. Just doesn't look right!

that's Pino Palladino... yeah, he always had a kind of sour look and stance about him... but look at the rest of Toto, what a bunch of toolboxes.
seriously though, Palladino was one of my favorite session players back in the 80s... plays some nice fretless on "give blood" on Pete Townsend's White City LP and does some tasteful fretless on Don Henley's "sunset grill."

never was an overly huge who/townsend fan but White City may very well be one of the finest [rock] backup bands ever assembled:
Townsend
David Gilmour
Pino Palladino
Simon Phillips
i'm sure they had someone heavy on keys too... name's escaping me right now.

Jeff Berlin.

agreed... saw him a while back with ABWH (i think Tony Levin only played half/part of the tour) and he was wearing a tucked in flannel shirt and jeans, looked ridiculous but i got over it real soon, probably around the time he nailed Close To The Edge with no pick.

+1 for fallout boy. Not even just for the bassist, but for the entire band... Their showcasing is preventing any musical skill from developing.

By the way,
So I watched that Fall Out Boy YouTube clip, and I kept wishing that someone would rush the stage and beat them to death with their guitars.

I'm putting that in my sig.

Oh yeah, then there's Mike Dirnt.
