Bassists you just can't watch

I came to agree on the Wentz front, he just looks rediculous, and all the teenage girls seem to love him.

I hear that Pete's the guy who writes the songs and is the driving force all that, but of course thats probably all PR garbage and I bet someone who doesn't look cool enough to be in the band writes all the damn songs.

he does it for like 4 minutes in that video

his tone is pretty rank as well. its just mud

plus he didn't write his own basslines for pretty much every band hes been in. hes played on more live albums than he has studio albums

plus hes playing the riff wrong i think

Just think how great it would be to get all these no-talent (b)ass-clowns on the stage at the same time...just think: petey, mike anthony, szarzo, etc. all staring at each other wondering all about the noise-making device strapped around their necks.

If we contact (sir) bob geldolf - i'm sure he can drum up a promotional tour like "Bass-Clown Aid" or something like that. I'm sure McCartney can fill a stage with 20-30 musicians and play "Twist and Shout" while the aforementioned clowns ape it up for the cameras...of course, they'd need enough bass techs to swap out the non-functioning units during their inevitable technical meltdown.

On second thought, real bad idea.

You obviously know little about rock and roll history. Would you tell off John Lodge, Ray Shulman, John Entwistle, Greg Lake, Felix Pappalardi, Chris Squire, Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, Joe Osborn, Carol Kaye, Phil Lynott, Garry Tallent, Mike Rutherford, and thousands of other extremely talented bass players who make the decision to use a pick to aid their bass playing?

I guess you haven't seen the Led Zeppelin DVD. He moves. Especially during "Bring it on Home." He plays mandolin and keys. He does 100x more stuff than *****y Pee-wee Pete Wentz does. Not to mention writing better stuff and skill. Geez.

Anyways, had to get that off my chest, sorry. I can't stand watching, or listening to, for that matter, bassists that play only root notes. I know music sometimes calls for it, but you need to spice it up sometimes.

ok i unserstand how can hate pete wentz's "style" but i have to give him credit as a lyricist and i kno u guys r going to hate me fro saying that but there are some really great metaphores and other cool stuff like that so i dont like his bass playing but i love his lyrics

Is it wrong because you're unable to accept the fact that it's completely respectable to play with a pick and it's a valuable technique to learn in order to be a versatile bassist? I don't play with a pick much but I know how to do it for sheer versatility.
