Is it worth buying a Epiphone Thunderbird?

My Goth (~2006 model) is awesome! Snarly, diabolical goodness, and gets lots of comments on the looks (obviously, all-flat-black will turn heads). The Gibson tone is its own thing--not a P, not a J, not a Rick, not one of those fancy modern active tones either--but it's nice and adaptable. The...

    Your favourite fretboard?

Maple for looks; rosewood for comfort. (Seriously, it feels great under your fingers)

    Favorite Power Trios?

How could you say fIREHOSE and NOT Minutemen? Minutemen are so good that Mike Watt is almost my LEAST favorite member of the band--even though he's one of the all-time greats. Say what you will about Boon's singing, but his guitar playing was straight bad-arsed and Hurley was no joke either...

    THE UNDER 21 TB'ERS CLUB!

Sixteen last May. This is from the end of July, at a show in Brooklyn. I saw the camera guy coming my way and figured I had to have at least one picture like this.

    Flats?

I'm a GHS man, myself. My dad likes the .055 Precision Flats--I find them a little too heavy for my taste, so I go with .045s. I hate roundwounds--I've got GHS Infinity Steels on my Thunderbird for the rare occasion that I actually NEED the roundwound sound, and they're super-cool looking and...

Does Playing Team Sports Make You A Better Band Member?

It's possible, yes, but you'll have to pick your sport carefully so as not to put any of your fingers in danger. I had a friend that was great at football but never played it in school because he played classical piano and just couldn't risk it.

Weirdest name of a band you've ACTUALLY BEEN IN

The Beach Arabs. I quit about a month ago, but they're still around.

Is this bass seriously worth $30,000

Don't know for sure but DAYUM that is pretty. If I had my way I'd have a ricky that looked like that.

How old were you on your first gig?

I was 12 the first time I played in public (as a drummer). I was 15 the first time I got paid (also as a drummer). First bass gig was at 15, and first paying bass gig a few months later. I'm 16 now and play out a few times a month with my band.

Double Bass electric stand up bass are they good for creativity or are they a disgrace

I'm not big into the EUB in general compared to the upright, especially in jazz, but for most Latin music the Ampeg baby bass is THE SOUND and it actually probably fits the genre better than a fully acoustic.

    1960 Gibson EB-6

Pickups are pickups, dude. The old Fender Musicmaster basses use a straight up unmodified (except for covered pole pieces) Strat pickup and they sound tremendous.

    1960 Gibson EB-6

SO GOOD!!!!! (So expensive!) The coolest EB-6 record IMO, if you're curious, is Wes Montgomery's "Movin' Along." It's a quintet of flute, piano, upright bass, drums, and Wes on a 335 style EB6. He mostly plays high up on the neck--enough that a casual listener could mistake it for a normal...

    Not a bass but...

The blonde was nice, but DAMN it looks good brunette! I'd hit that!

MIM 50's Precision Reissue Users post here!

That bass is my dream bass. Look-wise, anyway. The blond is my favorite, but I'd take the black and red too. Do they make it in sunburst?
