    Tip jar encouragement

Fascinating responses. There's a bluegrass band that plays down the street from me regularly. Their shtick is: "The more you tip, the faster the mandolin player solos!" Damn that guy can pick fast, if necessary.

4 ohm cab options for Fender Bassman 100

Thanks. From what I've heard the tb153 is getting a lot of love from users with heads in the 3-900 watt range. Will the bassman drive it or would I do well to take advantage of the GB deals avatar has up right now?

4 ohm cab options for Fender Bassman 100

Hey guys. So I rock a '70's bassman 100 through an acoustic 2x15. I love that cab to death, but it's a little big for my needs. I've been considering getting a cab for practice/gigs with PA support. 4 ohm options seem limited, and I'll be on a tight budget. I don't know how tight yet, as I'm...

Married gear addicts: How do you do it?

I'm not married and won't pretend to be an expert. However, I think that if your wife is managing your professional finances, and bills are being paid, and money is being set aside, then the money that comes in from gigs should contribute towards your gear purchases. If your gigs are cashflow...

    Introducing songs with dumb jokes

Not mine, but there's a band in town that covers traditional Ukrainian folk music as heavy rock. The two singers only talk in Ukrainian, and the drummer "translates" The singer will talk for five minutes using syllables I can't replicate, and the drummer will translate... every time, same...

Forgive me, TB FX gurus- gtr/harmonica Q's

Man, I'd love to hear someone rock a bass harmonica with some octave and fuzz for weird organ-like swells. Might one say that such a set-up could just be... the best harmonica for metal? Sorry... I had to. However, sounds like your harp player is gonna have some pretty cool sounds.

does/should my drummer need a microphone?...

I like the on-off switch concept. You could have the switch, and then you'd be the proverbial cutter of balls, should problems arise.

How can I inspire my drummer/brother to practice more?

Maybe some Rush? Something with some weird rhythm changes? Something groovy and Latin? Challenge him, I say.

    Song medley/blending ideas??? please share

I had a strange cover band going for a while. We had a pretty funny medley we did a few times. Miserlou > Tequila > la Bamba > Twist and Shout Our drummer sang a couple verses of la Bamba, despite not speaking a word of spanish. It was a riot.

Am I getting screwed on $?

not to beat a dead horse, but I agree strongly with those who have pointed out that if you are payed a percentage, then you have to be able to see the math of that percentage. If he doesn't want you to see the books, then you're not making a percentage rate, you're making an arbitrary amount of...

"Is this song popular enough to be worth playing?"

+1 for out-of-the-box thinking, as evidenced by the country band that played a raggae song. A guitarist buddy of mine desperately wanted to learn a Zappa tune, just for fun. So we learned one. Dirty Love. There was some contention about whether it should be played live. One day, we threw it in...
