if you rest your thumb on the pickup while playing the 4 then just imagine the B string is the pickup when on the 5. you only need to be aware of the B string when playing the lower 5 notes...

Mainly a tension issue. if the tension is low compared to the other strings it tends to flop around and cause some buzzing.... learning to play it softly helps to decrease the S***iness of it
