    Favorite PREMIUM Strap ??

Well there are the Moody straps: www.moodyleather.com. Supposedly excellent quality if you want to splurge on a strap. I believe they make the Talkbass Bass Clef ones too.

    Logic Express 8

Out of interest why are you thinking of buying the full blown package? I have Logic Express 7 and am planning an upgrade to v8 - not sure whether to go Express or Studio though. Are there specific features you're looking for that aren't in LE8?

    Warwick: Old vs. New

This gets discussed often on the Warwick forum. Basically there have been a few changes, presumably to cope with increasing demand as they became more popular. The most-mentioned differences are the changes in neck wood and profile (from Wenge to Ovangkol, slim to noticeably thicker). The...

    Rediscovered the beatles!

'Paperback Writer' is a fun bassline but I don't like the sound of it on the record. It sounds a bit overpowering in the mix. Not in a bottom-heavy Larry Graham kind of way but in a thin sound turned up too loud to compensate kind of way. 'Rain' is even worse. I much prefer the bass tone on...

I will consider myself a good bassist when I can play this song

+1 on the Jamerson but I would go with the next track on the album - 'What's Happening Brother'. The intro (i.e. before Marvin comes in) is one of the reasons I decided to pick up a bass. You could record that tune ten times and Jamerson would take it to ten different places. It's a simple...

Double Bass Practice amp to use with upright and electric bass?

You could try the Flight Case from Phil Jones Bass. It's small, ridiculously light and should work well in an acoustic setting. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Check this review - there's some acoustic at the end. Only downside is the price.

    SOLD Roland Bass Cube-100

Aren't these $450 brand new? How much is the Tuki cover worth?

Sam Ash in New Haven has PJB!

I was actually more impressed with the Flight Case. It's bigger but much lighter, a lot quieter (the Briefcase is quite hissy at louder volumes) and has a much fuller sound. Of course it's also much more expensive - at that kind of price the small Markbass combos start to become contenders.

Sam Ash in New Haven has PJB!

I saw these over the weekend in the NYC store. Hadn't heard of the brand before but after doing some research I'm going back for a listen. An amp that size would be very welcome in my tiny apartment.

    Practice Amp for Warwick Corvette

Cheers. The Bassman 100 looks very good although a bit more than I had planned to spend. Someone in Guitar Center recommended these to me as well. By the way, if anyone knows of some shops in NYC with a decent range of bass amps on display that would also be handy.

    Songs derived from other songs.....

There are loads of Beatles ones (and they nabbed plenty of stuff themselves). When done well you end up with two good songs instead of one, e.g. The Beatles - Taxman When done badly you end up with 'Ice Ice Baby'. But that doesn't make the practice of copying or sampling other songs bad. Like...

    Practice Amp for Warwick Corvette

Hello TB, I will shortly be buying my first bass - probably a Warwick Corvette STD Active. I notice there are a few Warwick owners on this forum and was hoping for some advice on amps. I haven't found any shops with a good range on display so am having to rely on reviews etc. What I'm looking...
