+1 to that! To NS2A: I always tune to Drop D on my 4-banger (DADG) because I like the low D and have always felt that the low E just wasn't enough. I would just keep an eye on my bass for a few days, adjusting the intonation and action if needed. Personally, I've never run into issues...

Hey all. I'm looking at picking up a five string Ibanez, and I wanted to tune it E-A-D-G-C. I know they usually come B-E-A-D-G, and I was wondering if it was going to cause any major issues, aside from doing the given action/truss/intonation/string gauge tweaks.

Aesthetically, I really don't like the look of maple. Tonally, I can't notice a difference. Touch-wise, I've always felt maple to be a little more "sticky" to me. Thus, rosewood for me. YMMV.
