Yeah, my vote goes to Jaco as well. I prefer the less "mwah" fretless sound, and his is just the opposite. Sounds ganky to me

Although i've never played 5 string, i do prefer a tighter string spacing on my 4's. What if you made your pickup with blade magnets? That would make it useable with any spacing, providing that the lowest and highest strings don't vibrate off the magnetic field. Just Imo
