Rics seem to be love vs hate. I've never played one, so I have no real advice but if you already know you don't like Fenders and you don't want the Spector then why not pick the Ric? Either or should have decent resale value, and yes Rics do hold pretty well. Unless it's beat up, I'd probably...

Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I wanted one for a long time after I first saw Juan Aldente demo it and one finally appeared in my proverbial back yard for cheap. I bought it, ran home and quickly realized it's just about pointless, but goodgoddamn what a gloriously pointless sound. Running it parallel to the HM2 was the...

Om’s got tampuras, Natraxas has sitars, how long before someone adds a kayagum to the lineup?

Filters up or down - what's your fav?

My Pigtronix EP2 has a switch for either, I definitely prefer down sweep.

Alternatives for J pickup in a P/J bass

If one split pickup is good, then two must be double plus good, right? Right!

as requested, awful examples. sorry i wasn't feeling it and phoned it in, but hey, it's better than nothing, right? Clean. HM2 on, P&C off (this means it was clean blended) HM2 off, P&C on (this also means it was clean blended, extra so even as i keep the P&C pretty clean on it's own for when...

I think i started around kernel 1.2.13 or so and Slackware was king. I remember downloading floppy sets from a local BBS and only having enough space on my 130mb drive to hold kernel source or a copy of Netscape, but not both at the same time. I thought it was cool then, now I think it's just...

No one uses Linux, they operate it while wishing for something better. ;) Audacity is straight trash as a DAW, coz it's not. It's pretty awesome as a wave editor, though, and I've used it to do voice work in the past. If you've got a Mac already, dig into Garageband. Even the old versions...

The only software synths I've ever used was the Bristol collection for Linux (et al), and for that mostly played around with the ARP2600. There's probably 30ish different models rolled in. It's free, but you're stuck with using Linux (et al), which is generally a miserable experience. I also...

Today was rough, hopefully tomorrow is easier. We'll see what I can do if I don't have a hodgepodge of sales drones, service managers, and entitled customers railing at me because no one bothers to pay for hardware maintainence and I'm literally gutting old servers to keep the good ones running...

The other, far more complicated, setup i said sounds good and is super out there is a prunes and custard and hm2 in parallel. Both are cloned circuits, and they’re way out there but sound pretty chill together. I should try to cut a little sample of it. Maybe tomorrow if I find the time. I...

I feel like it's a weird flex to a humblebrag from me, but for those who can: try using your LS2 to have a Prunes and Custard in one loop and something that works with it (the HM2 pairs really well) in the other loop and run them parallel. It's my new favourite thing.

    Dual P Pickup Club!

The J has the Precision pickups in it, so I'm not sure how much of a difference it'd make, and if it's really worth it. I also already have a Mockingbird with the regular P/P setup. I wonder if I can make pickup surrounds and just route out the MB? Actually, I own a 3d printer, I know I can...
