Bought a Dunwich DA120 on reverb...been looking for one of these for a while. Here's some sound clips they have online. Not sure what else was used in the recording but...wow.

I guess I’m a turrble church bass player. I still have my Hellbilly on board and don’t cover it up. Whatevs.
Probably doesn’t help that I frequently play Tool, Maiden, and the Om track State of Non-Return on stage before service.
Today was rough, hopefully tomorrow is easier. We'll see what I can do if I don't have a hodgepodge of sales drones, service managers, and entitled customers railing at me because no one bothers to pay for hardware maintainence and I'm literally gutting old servers to keep the good ones running.
On the upside, I'm gonna have the most bitchin' circa 2012 workstation on my home desk when this is all over. Dual octocore xeons and 128gb of RAM...and a OEM video card from a corporate desk top because no one puts real ones in servers for me to salvage.
I haven't checked my cellphone voice mail in over 10 years. Fudge you for leaving a message, there's a reason I didn't answer my phone: I didn't care.
Honestly, probably does more towards witnessing to kids than all the versions of whatever bland top 40s-esque spiritual music you normally get.
(don't read that as trying to offend Bible-centric pop music, but let's be honest that message aside... it's pretty boring stuff)
Naaa. In all honesty. Most of the stuff in that type of Christian music sucks. I am not a fan of a vast majority of it.
Edit: I mean, it’s great for some people. I don’t dislike everything of that genre, but it’s just not music that I prefer or just listen to on a norm. Sunday’s I do though. Lol

Is anyone overly familiar with 400RB heads? A local store has one for 249. I was wondering if that was pretty good considering the shape it seems to be in.
I mean, you're here hanging out with us degenerates, so you're not doing too bad. Seriously tho, I think the church bands are rad. I wouldn't see em myself, but that they're out there and doing it is awesome.
The P&W threads here are way silly, and a bit too self important, but damn they do get funny.
I want to add some electronics to my songs. I'm looking for something suitable for harsher sounds (think about Today is the Day's third album).
I had a Volca Keys but I couldn't find a sound I liked with that thing. Maybe I should have tried with that + distortion pedals, but I have sold it (now I regret it a bit)
I also didn't like that there was no way to memorize the settings I liked (knobs were wayyyyy too small and sensitive and had no signs on them)
and I also I didn't like that you lose a lot of time playing with pots without actally "writing" anything. Too time-sucking

Seems somewhat high for the shape to me. As with plenty of gear, if you’re patient, you can find an awesome deal. Got mine for $200 if I remember correctly, and it’s the newest version with slightly more power etc. and in great shape. Amazing heads, those 400RBs.
I have the big brother 800rb and it is bloody great and my main amp. $250 seems decent-ish price. I've seen 400rb's often $150-$250.

I’m going to walk in with $200 cash and see if he takes it. I’m guessing he won’t, but we’ll see. I bet it would sound nice through my Basson 210 or my Aguilar 212 either.

the best budget synth is the Arturia Microbrute in my opinion. great starter to learn on.
If you have a DAW at home then there are countless software synths that you can use and many are free but the free ones sometimes don't have a great UI and can be a challenge if you are not familiar with synthesis. With a DAW you can also just program the midi, so you don't have to be an expert keyboard player, and then use the synth to morph the sounds and get a wall of noise or whatever you can dream up
.Hardware synths are not cheap but there are lots. the Behringer Model D is awesome for a classic moog sound, but is mono only. Roland has lots of options too but in general you won't get much under $300.

They are soooooo complicaated

if you haven't tried reaper, give it a try, lots of youtube how to videos.
I run Reaper some, but prefer Reason 10 to any DAW I’ve ever worked with. I feel like it’s more user friendly and easier to understand than Reaper or the PreSonus Studio series I had before it. Plus, you get a ton of plugins that are super useable right out of the box.
My main setup is an Audient iD14 into Reason 10 and EZ Drummer 2 since I record everything on my own. I use an Avalon U5 or my Darkglass B7K Ultra2 for bass. I was hesitant to buy Reason until I really started working with it and watching YouTube videos. Love it now. Both Reaper and Reason are great DAWs, but I’d steer clear of The PreSonus if you are wanting to do a lot of outboard stuff.
yeah reaper is a little clunky but for $60 it is hard to beat. i don't have a ton of experience with other DAWs, but I hated Ableton. Never heard of Reason 10, i'll check it out.
Ableton is the worst DAW I’ve ever used. I’m sure it’s great for some, but the friggin interface is crap and the difficulty in recording live makes it a no go for me. It kept crashing my computer even though I was way over minimum requirements.
