As long as you're using vibrationally tuned bolts or special sustain glue you should be fine with either.

Tricky. Most of my past bands have been or started out as trios. The ones that went to a four piece seemed to fold very soon after. Maybe it's because it's harder to get a majority vote on stuff? i always felt the musical dynamic suffered too. This is probably no help really. Just an observation.

It's been getting slightly higher over the years. From virtually having to bend over to play around my knees as a spotty yoof to covering my gentleman parts now. I only play with a pick and rarely venture past fret 12 so I can still wear the bass in a relatively low slung rock n roll stylee.
