    Any drunk gig stories?

I once got a bit too drunk, and over the course of my 45 minute set accidentally unplugged my bass about 6 times and tried drinking out of the wrong end of a beer can. Turns out I play just fine drunk, loading up the van is where it got tricky... Dang stairs + snow combo...

Wives at out of town gigs??

I have brought a girlfriend to out-of-town gigs, and it was fine. As long as you make sure she is taken care of and there is no hassle for the rest of the band, I see no reason why not.

How does your band write music?

In my band, someone generally presents the other members with something, a chord progression, rhythm or pattern of some type. Some base of a song. Then we all jam on it a bit and see what comes out in the wash. It gets refined over time and eventually becomes a song. Some cool stuff has come out...

Please give my band page a quick glance and offer feedback.

As far as the songwriting goes, that sounds good. A couple of the songs start out sounding very similar, with the same feel to them and all. But I like it, even though it is a great distance from my usual music choices. I didn't hear an out of tune guitar, but then again, I don't have the...

Band drama. Can I please have opinions?

This could start a new thread, but it amazes me that a member of the band described here actually thinks gigs will come. Especially when the drummer doesn't want to do it. Amazing how many people I have met like that. On topic: OP did exactly what I would have done. I am shocked you waited so...

Are we supposed to enjoy rehearsing?

I personally love rehearsing. It is always fun to play bass period, and playing in my band, creating or perfecting our music is rewarding as heck. It helps that I love the people I play with, and we always have a good time. I do like gigs better though, there is more chicks there than in the...

    KICKSTARTER

For Obscura's, the offered anything from Digital downloads, a copy of the album on release day, T-shirts, all the way up to autographed items, special thanks in the liner notes of the album, and dinner with the band. They had many things offered, from $5 pledges given all the way up to $2k...

    KICKSTARTER

Obscura is using kickstarter as a place to "pre-order" the album they are releasing. Pretty cool idea. Depending on the size of the gift you give, they give you better and better pre-order packages. I think its a cool idea as a site, but I have never used it myself. Probably will in the future...

Today I audition for my first band as a bassist

I remember my first time (lol), was pretty nervous. Congrats on getting the job though! Best of luck to you and your new band!

    C'List...think this is spam?

Bad grammar always leads me to believe it is some kind of scam. And how does she have no phone availability but internet access? I have to believe that an oceanographer would have access to a phone, and would have to have gone through enough schooling to use proper grammar. Or something close to...

How important are personal beliefs in bands?

I try to avoid bringing up the aforementioned bad topics (race, religion, politics), but it sometimes gets brought up. Drummer of the band is not afraid to hurt feelings, so sometimes takes a shot at a political ideal or person I support. I have to bite my tongue until it bleeds sometimes, but...

    Quitting unstable band with friend

Your background musically won't get in the way, unless you let it. My band is a pretty good example. It is a death metal band, but 2 members are from a death metal background, I am from more of a radio metal background, only dabbling a little bit into the super heavy metal, and a guitar player...
