    Rack tuner opinions???

Korg came out with a revamp of their pitchblack series. Ive had great experiences with this model and its 3D display looks great on a dim lit stage. https://www.amazon.com/Korg-PB05-Pitchblack-Rackmount-Guitar/dp/B00F0GPTRS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1506791787&sr=8-1&keywords=korg+rack+tuner

    Need Help Identifying Yamaha..

Great find! I love the RBX 170's! Considering the price the build quality is amazing on them. I have one of the earlier rbx 170 models and it has been my main gigging bass for years. About 4 months ago I gutted the thing, shielded all the cavities, put in some bartolinis and bypassed the bridge...

Anybody else tired of gear snobs?

Let the snobs be snobs... My main gigging/practice bass is a modded Yamaha RBX170 (similar price range as your Ibanez) and it does everything I need it to.

When is your bass "good enough"?

My only fretted bass (that I use for almost every gig I play) is a $160 Yamaha RBX170. I play a bunch of outdoor stages that have no PA support for bass, so that "crappy" Yamaha is hooked up to 2 Markbass 122 cabs and a Mesa subway D800 (all of which is about 15 times the cost of that bass!)...

    Recommendations Needed!

This!! I dont have experience with the Carvin's but they seem to be held in high esteem here on TB. The fender rumbles are a great budget option, I owned the 200 watt combo and that was plenty loud and lightweight enough for bar gigs (and if you got the 115 extension cab it could hold its own...

    212/115 or 410

A 212 has my vote. One 4 ohm 212 is all I need, but if you jam with a loud band or play more than just small gigs without PA support than a pair of 8 ohm 212's is a great option as well. Mixing speaker sizes doesn't necessarily hurt the performance/tone of your rig (although it can if done...

Need a 410 - Mark Bass or GK Neo?

GK is going to be better bang for your buck, but in terms of performance/volume both GK and Markbass are good options. Markbass will be lighter, but if you're more concerned about tone than weight I suggest that you try out both cabs as both have inherently different tones. The GK Neo's seem...

    Aguilar TH500 and cab combinations

I have the New York 122 that i use with a MB500 head, that cab is killer and should give you more volume and punch than your current setup. However a good 410 (whether it be GK, MB, etc.) will probably be louder still. If you are looking for portability and a small footprint though, that 122...

best 2nd cabinet for Markbass CMD 210 combo

A matching cabinet such as the traveler 102p would probably be best. All of the cabinets you listed would sound fine, but having a matching 210 cab would look more symmetrical and the power from the amp would be more evenly distributed to each of the speakers. The traveler 102p is rear-ported...

The Sly Groves EP Just released our debut 6 track EP today! We still have a lot of practice to do before we can get gigs but we are on the right path. I recorded and mixed everything myself (so I apologize for crappy mixes HA!) And we got the EP mastered by JP Masters in Boston.

    (Poll) Amp requirements for a rear-ported 212?

Thanks guys! Technology has gifted us with Neodymium, efficient ported enclosures, and Class D amps, but it still seems like we as bass players are doomed to shlep the larger rigs (usually). For reggae, a standalone 212 might leave me wanting more (should have gotten the 8 ohm version so I...

    (Poll) Amp requirements for a rear-ported 212?

For most gigs I am using a cheap Yamaha RBX170 with quarter pounder pickups and light guage D'Addario chromes, sometimes I will play my fretless Schecter studio 8 but the yamaha is what i will be using for most live situations I suppose I am still finding my tone so going with either the...
