    Double Bass M7-1.0 Thumb Screw?

McMaster-Carr No M7 thumb screws from my usual getting spot, but an oversize eyebolt may do the trick and you'd have an extra lifting point for rigging.

Double Bass Bridge feet size question

Even with in a brand, size will vary. I stock Despiau cut 1, 2, 6, and 12 for the most part (and teller/auberts for widths Despiau doesnt produce) and they all have different sized feet on them. Blanks will come in rather chonky, gives a luthier meat to work with and adapt the bridge for a given...

Double Bass Eyeballing adjuster thread size

Fishman uses different knurling on the various thread pitches, you have the 1/4"-20 there with the diamond knurling. The M6 and the 5/16"-16 both have vertical knurling (the M6 to 1/4" is the most easily confused and utilize the different knurling)

Double Bass bridge adjusters or not?

Trouble with an awful lot of acoustical studies of instrument is the small sample size. Every one of these basses are their own individual with their own tonal personalities. In general, I prefer the way one piece aluminum adjusters sound. We had a bass from the Army Band at West Point...

Double Bass let's be honest with string technology we don't need basses that big we need logistics

What are the fractional size strings that a player would actually play professionally? Hint: there are very few choices What are the choices for 3/4+ strings on the market? Hint: an overwhelming amount of choice making it difficult to try them all. I feel market forces are here to tell us...

Double Bass Getting a C Extension on a potentially new (to me) bass which has a scroll graft

The only thing that may prohibit an extension on a bass with a scroll graft (assuming all else is healthy) would be how far forward the scroll "nods." If you lay a straight edge along the string path of the e string extending out over the scroll, there needs to be at least 20mm clearance if not...

    Double Bass favorite Bridge blank

CT1 is a high heart, CT2 is low, CT6 and CT12 are standard. I think belgian cut only belongs on a cello We use to have a stash of NOS Tellers with a 155mm width, the Despiaus standard widths are 150, 158, 165 so that 155 was useful on some basses. I found I had to do extra work on the Tellers...
