Yes,, it was the same as before with just the D string not functioning. I've emailed them twice but haven't got any replies so a call might be the best way forward. It's an interesting problem but it'll be good to get it sorted.

Well, after a bit of fiddling around with swapping the monolith plugs I have no idea what’s going on now. It did something very strange as I unplugged the A monolith before unplugging the D and then tried the bass - the D string had come alive without moving it so I have no idea what’s going...

I need help picking an amp!

I had the same problem some years ago so I went into the music shop with my own bass and tried every amp that interested me. I ended up buying something I wasn’t even considering but when I stood as far in front of the amp as I was able to with the bass to amp lead and actually listened to the...

    Willcox Bass Club (Lightwave)

It’s been a long time since I’ve been active on here but I now find I need some help from fellow Lightwave owners. Due to life getting in the way I haven’t done much playing lately and decided to get the basses out the other day but my Sabre VL 5 fretless seems to have a dead pickup on the D...

    question for Lightwave bass owners

I had TI flat wounds on one of mine for the last year and have recently changed back to Everly's for an entirely fresh vibe. Give me another month or so and I'll be trying something different - maybe some acoustic bass round wounds or some tape wound, just to see what they're like :smug:

Put me down for two, I've got a translucent black fretted 5 string VL Sabre, and a natural 5 string fretless. These are the only two basses I own now and cover every playing situation with ease.

    bass chorus

I just picked up a CEB 3 last week and am more than happy with it, good range of adjustment and very quiet.

Ever been disappointed by one of the "better" basses?

For me it was a Pedulla Thunderbass 4 that I custom ordered and waited months for delivery, this first one I got had wood shrinkage issues with the central laminates, and the New Zealand distributor agreed that there could be a possibility of the wood also shrinking away from the bonding to the...

    The ONE bass

I had a Lakland Bob Glaub Precision 4 that I told the band members they would have to pry it out of my cold dead hands before I gave it up - one week later it was destroyed in a fire - bugger :(

Dilemma, needs opinions. What would you do?

Which bass makes you feel better when your playing it? If it's the JoBo, then keep it, if it's the PB then trade the JoBo. I recently sold my own JoBo5 to get another brand and haven't regretted it a bit, as I never really bonded with the Lakland.

    Why play at the bridge?

It all depends on the tone for me, if I need a sharp attack and want to dig in, then I'm back at the bridge, but if I want that fat Motown type groove, then I'm up near the neck.

    TI flats - soundclips.

Nice sound clips 4 string. I've been using TI Falts for a few years now, firstly on a Lakland Bob Glaub P Bass (absolutley awesome), the a Joe Osborne 5 string (not quite so good sound wise), and now on a fretless Lightwave 5 - amazing double bess vibe. I'm sold on TI strings full stop...
